Bronco Premiere!

I'm staying optimistic with this. Makes me wish I was still in the know at Ford. They have done a great job keeping this one under wraps... building the hype... they had better deliver.

I talked with the wife on a long drive home to Chicago from Northern Michigan today... and one of these is probably gonna be my personal last new vehicle purchase if they do deliver.

From the small info leaks (the real ones, not the AutoZone had a 2.3 Turbo listed in their system bullshit leaks) and confirmations by Ford that have got out we know: (can all be found on bronco6g.com)

It will be on a modified T6 chassis that will be under the Ranger in 2022.
It will have the Ranger 2.3T and a yet to be announced V6. (May or may not be Turbo.)
There's going to me a manual trans option... unknown what engine it will be behind.
It will have removable doors and roof, that can be stored in the back.
The side mirrors are attached to the A pillar - for when the doors are off.

I have to admit that I'm torn about the front axle.
At first I said "SFA or GTFO", but then the Colorado ZR2 did the Rubicon trail and finding Wrangler fanatics in the forums and replying to articles that they're hemming between the two, it gave me second thoughts.
Would I prefer a SFA on the Bronco? He'll yeah! But I can also see an argument for a really strong IFS like the ZR2's especially if it trickles over to the Ranger (front locker and all).

I was reading what the J33p guys have to say about it the new Bronco. The consensus there is that even an IFS Bronco will sell well and hurt Jeep sales... As long as it's got removable doors and roof. They agree that most new Jeep sales are to people who will never go off-road on anything more then a dirt trail. Only the more hardcore care about a SFA.

When you really think about it...
-Jeeps reliability sucks, Ford has a better reputation for building reliable vehicles.
-IFS drives better then SFA. Easily noticed on a 5-10 minute test drive... big selling point for soccer moms.
-Most people care more about options then off-roadability.
-Ford cares more about sales figures then what the purists think a Bronco should be.
-*2 door Jeeps account for less then 25% of new Wrangler sales*... If Ford is going after the Wrangler, they need a 4 door.
-A 4 cyl auto as the only option will NEVER be enough for the North American market... I don't care how big the turbo is. It will hurt sales. Just read what everyone says about the new Ranger. They don't care about the power... they care about the # of cylinders. It will have a V6.

*I completely made that statistic up. I have no clue what the actual amount is... but you believed me, didn't you? I know it's somewhat accurate.

Some silly shit there.

The new zr2 is a beast...as is the ranger.

Wife still leans f150.

Ford 250,s suck. I don't know wtf they did but they are death wobbly brake eating piles of shit. Embarrassment is a kind word.

So robust active ifs/irs with lockers and easily adapted to electric hub motors has me all smiles.

Bring it.

If Jeep doesn't fix the Pentastank problems they'll pay for it eventually. I've heard they haven't thus far. Rockers, lash adjusters, lots of noise.

Looks nice and clean don't it? 7-8k OCI with good stuff. Needle bearing in the #5 exhaust rocket ate themselves at 115k. Saved the cam thank God. This is from my '11 avenger that I've had since 2012, but the same thing is happening in new Wranglers and even the 3.2 Cherokees (same rockers). Lots of stories of lash adjusters collapsing too.

Forget the Wrangler, I would be tickled with a Ford 4Runner that looks Broncoish.

Removable top is a non issue for me, would almost just as soon not have it for leaks/rattles/noise/body strength.

Body on frame TRUCK based with good ground clearance and 4 doors would be awesome. And so far all you have for options in NA is Wrangler and 4Runner/Lexus relatives. Solid axle in the back, good IFS in the front.

Careful listening to what the blowhards say in the interwebs, in F-150 land Ford has been cutting shifts on the 5.0 line because of decreased interest in the engine, more and more are opting for the 6 over the 8.

Also read the reviews on the Tacoma engine, they don't care how many cylinders it has they want more power.

...
Not my 2017. No death wobble. Brakes are still going strong at 70k. I think most of the death wobble claims come from folks that have modified the front end and run larger tires. I do have a level kit, but still running OEM 20's. Other than the ugly reddish brake dust I have zero complaints about the brakes either.

We have a fleet of them, all stock. The older trucks started getting death wobble between 80-90K miles... we replace the track bar, its ball joint, and the shimmy shock and it goes away for another 80-90k.

The '17+ trucks haven't hit 80K yet. We have one at 76K... we shall soon see.

If I hit a really bad spot in the road at speed, I can feel the shimy that would be a precursor to a death wobble, but it lasts like a half second and all is smooth again.

From the pictures, you can tell it's definitely IFS.

From the article: It states that it will run in Class 2, which is, “Unlimited open-wheel, car/truck, 3.6-Liter Turbo.” What's interesting though is a reader over there caught part of the engie in one of the pictures and points out the oil filter cartridge on the 2.7 ecoboost

He circles the corresponding parts in the pics with a red. (I would never have caught this!)

Since they’re both being built at MAP, I’d be surprised if they weren’t the same platform, just a different body. No different from the last generation Ranger/Explorer shared platform built at LAP. And it’ll get a bigger motor than you can get in the Ranger, just like the last time....:(. I test drove a fully loaded 2019 Ranger a couple months ago. Don’t like it, and I sure as hell wouldn’t pay $40k for one.

I am talking about fleet trucks, some with less then 15 k had issues. Bone stock...but oilfield miles. So likely rough miles.

It's already been confirmed by Ford that the Bronco will get a new version of the Ranger chassis. The Ranger will get that same updated chassis later when it gets its update.
It's also confirmed the Bronco will have a 2.3t and an undisclosed v6 option.

The current Ranger chassis isn't designed for a v6. It was designed for the world market where it has only 4 cylinder options (both gas and diesel). The new redesign is to fit a v6.

How many of you would ****ing die if it were a new 2.9?
