Bronco II Ranger Wheel Swap question

Hey everyone,

I came across a set of 15x6 OEM 12-hole wheels from a 1989 Bronco II at a local junkyard and I’m considering grabbing them for my 1990 Ford Ranger 2WD. My truck currently has 14x6 wheels, and I’m looking to upgrade to 15s to run slightly larger tires.

My main concern is the center bore compatibility. I've read conflicting info online and even in the “1983–2011 Ford Ranger Wheel Fitment Guide” here - it lists the hub bore as anywhere from 70.3mm to 70.5mm, and I’ve seen other sources mention 70.6mm. I know the Bronco II shares a lot with the 1st-gen Rangers, but if the B II wheel’s center bore is smaller than the Ranger’s hub, they won’t fit, and I’d like to avoid any issues like vibration or wobble at highway speeds.

I wonder what the actual hub bore size is for a 2wd 1990 Ranger (I don’t have a caliper to measure atm).
Has anyone here run these specific Bronco II wheels on a 2WD Ranger of this era? Was it a perfect fit or did you run into issues?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. this is the bronco II they’re on and what the rims look like.

Those rims will fit and work fine on your Ranger.

Thank you! Have you done this swap before? There’s so much conflicting info saying they won’t fit online…
Sort of. Those rims were on my 89 Bronco II Choptop when I bought it as a 2wd. When I replaced the front axle and dummy T-case to make it a 4x4, those rims went on it until I started lifting it.

Up to 97, any 4x4 rim would fit a 2wd. Most would also fit 2wd to 4x4.

My '90 Bronco II 2WD, stock, needed the larger center hole wheels to fit in front. So you should be OK with those wheels from that '89; it probably has the larger hole wheels which will fit both size spindles.

If memory serves, Rangers and B2s are lug centric, so the center hole fit doesn't really matter, as long as it fits.

Kind of sad seeing that B2 in a scrap yard. It has the XLS package (see the rocker trim and rear bumper), and it looks to be in salvageable shape.

If the rear bumper's not rotted you ought to grab it if reasonable. And I'd trade a first born son for a good set of those rocker trim pieces.

Okay that’s good to know, thank you!
As long as the B II wheels are the same bore, or larger sounds like I should be in good shape.

And yeah, I know what you mean it’s a shame to see that beauty in the scrapyard. I may try to grab some other parts off of it as well.
