Cool, I'v been thinking about building one.
Is the .25" or .375" plate that you used?

if i was to build another, I would us .50 aluminum it will save headach when machining the splitter shaft, and weight also.

The junkyards here are full of them. Also keep an eye out for 90s explorer e or m tcases thay have a 6 pinion planetary instead of the 4, and the 1350 are usable i just wanted to eliminate the slip yoke and small internal ujoint.

As for the difficulty, its not for the bolt on mechanic but a little metal working experience, mechanical ability, and the right parts its not too bad.

is that a two piece shaft? how does that work? did you weld it together or what?

I had the two shafts machined and pressed together then welded

ok.
I did alot of research on doubler before I did mine, and I ran across a couple with pressed and welded shafts that broke. that's the reason I went with the dd machine doubler kit because it had a solid shaft.
keep us posted how it works, I'd like to go the diy route next time if it'll hold up.

I'm anxious to see your shifter setup. it looks like the one lever is hitting the seperator plate. you'll need some creative shifter setup.

here's mine

it's a push-pull setup. I have more picks of the bracket if you want to see.

my rear case is electric shift so I dont have the same probs. I do have a 1354m case to put is so Id like to see what you come up with.
good job

I run a 1350/1350 combo. The rear case uses a modified stock floor shifter to shift it. The front or doubler, just uses a push pull lever. Down for normal, up for low range. When I used to have an electric rear case, I used a stock shifter to shift the doubler and of course the electric shifter for the rear case.
