So pretty.

I would love a polished intake like that, I just don't have the patience to put in the time.

Haha it took a lot of patience and a lot of time. Like a month. But I also disassembled the whole motor and went through it so I couldn't let it be ugly. Plus this was a spare time build so I just sanded on it when I got bored.

I see why they say the wiring is the hardest part of this swap but I took the easy way out. I put my Haynes manual away cause it sucked and wired the fuel pumps and starter relay directly to the ignition switch. Once the motor ran I literally cut every other wire off the explorer harness, traced them back to the power distribution box, cut them off the base of it, and removed the unnecessary fuses. I decided it would be easier to run my own temp and tach senders than sort through all that mess.

My B2 needs this, or one of my 5.0's that I have. Did you upgrade the radiator, or just use the original?

It's the 2.9 radiator and shroud with what looks like a V8 fan and pulley I grabbed out of the back of a van at the junkyard. I had to open the holes up to bolt the pulley on, and the stock belt didn't fit, but the temp stays right in the middle with the factory thermostat for a 93 4.0.

Hey, nice shiny intake!!

That's how I roll! There will be a follow up to this with a turbo and an M50D once I get the plumbing sorted out and actually like, buy and rebuild the trans. So far the 4.0 has gotten the old turd wagon a little lighter on her feet, and while it's fun to drive (300 miles so far), it's not as fun as my Camaro which makes somewhere north of 500 hp. This is a daily though, so I can't get too carried away and it has to be reliable which means I need to do some tuning research and spend some money. Right now I have a T3/T4 hybrid, intercooler, wastegate, blow off valve, and piping sitting in boxes while I decide what fuel delivery system I want to go with. I thought blow through MAF would be sufficient for low boost but after the work I've already done by rebuilding the motor and swapping it, I want to play it safe with a wideband O2 and an EFI controller.

What year was the 4.0 from that you swapped into the Bronco?

It was a 93. Fit like it was supposed to be there all along.
