hey all my project is a 84 bronco II with a 2.8l c5 auto.it use to be a stick but is now and auto. it has a 3" body lift and the rest is stock. my problems started with the tfi ignition. so i got the necessary new parts to do the dura spark conversion. i was having difficulty with the wiring so i sent the beast to my local 4x4 shop thinking it would be the quickest route to get it done. i told them to rip out the old tfi ignition and install the duraspark wiring since i already installed everything else. i get the truck back and it started great and seemed fine till a little while later i popped the hood and saw what they did. the old tfi ignition is still in the engine bay and so is the dura spark ignition. upon closer inspection they seemed to have taken the wiring for the dura spark ignition and spliced it into the tfi ignition for some strange reason. i asked them about this and they said they tried everything according to the diagrams and info from this sites tech section and nothing would get the truck to start is why they did it this way. i am so pissed and will never go back there. now the second issue is they told me that the neutral safety switch was cracked so i told them to just replace it so they did. now i go to and try and hook up the kick down rod and now it won't line up. i am now trying to fab something together or try what a buddy suggested is to use a kick down cable instead of the factory rod. any advice?????

As for the duraspark when you buy everything for it , its basiclly plug and play, how the hell do you screw up a simple concept?????

Pictures of all of this would help out a lot.

thats kinda what i thought. after rereading the info over and over its a simple plug and play so i went the manuals to check the wiring harness and such. none of the colour code wireing matched what i had so i went straight to one of my local ford dealerships to asked them for help. so it turns out for the 84 year only there is not just one harness to fit all there was like 5 different harnesses and i happen to get the odd one of the bunch thats not very common.the dura spark harness in the pictures is old so i wasn't surprized when they just got me a new one. the link is pictures of befroe i took it to the 4x4 shop. right now i am seriously thinking of trimming some of the tfi ignition wiring away for a cleaner look but worry about cutting the wrong ones since its like a birds nest now. right now the engine starts and all so i am not going to worry about that right now but am concerned with the kick down rod not lining up. how adjustable is the neutral safety switch?

The simpliest way to wire up the Duraspark ignition system is to keep the stock E coil, aside from the tach, run and start start wires the box plugs into the distributor and that is it.

thanks i will double check the wires and takes lots of pics before i start yanking this mess out so if it doesn't work i can rehook it up like now.

I agree. Something is NOT right here. A re you "sure" that yours is an 84, not an early 85 model, as those are bad for having extra wiring under the hood. People sometimes think because their BII is a 2.8, that is an 84 model. Nope. The only thing on my 84 that was not a P&P was that I added the GM HEI module to it at the same time I D-sparked it. I still ended up with a fully plug-in conversion, dizzy, HEI and wiring harness.
