Bronco ii 2.8 1 wire alternator conversion

Just to give you an update I just finished the one wire conversion tonight and let me tell you what an improvement the old alternator put out about 13.5 V at idle this puts out 14.5 the plow now goes up and down a lot quicker due to more voltage at the motor and at idle it is putting out a consistent 14.5 to 14.6 V. It was a quick install bolted right up in the stock location with the stock brackets lights are brighter. Everything seems to be an improvement over what it was. I am fairly happy right now. We will see how it goes when I actually have to plow with it.

So, you used the alternator that you linked in your original post?

I assume you are running duraspark, what are you using to work an electric choke if you still have one? Mine us currently running off the S wire on the stock alternator I believe.

I don't know about automotive but in ag the 10SI style alternators don't like being dirty... like they are not used in combines etc.

It doesn't take much imagination to figure how clean Bobby keeps his alternators...

this is fair.

but the alternators are on the thing that identifies as a ranger....( 350 Z 5.3 L/S ) but....ya know...young bobs floggin on it.

I haven’t had much issue in the automotive world with such, but I do run the style you tout in my international 184 with no issues😀

Yes I used the tuff stuff 7068 and I did away with the electronic controlled carb years ago and converted to duraspark due to my harness was deteriorated , I ran the choke wire to switched 12v , seems to work okay and converted to a cheap eBay 2150 2 barrel and has never run better, search my posts I think I had a thread on it
