bronco 2 vs toyota truck

HAHAHAHA are you retarded? ever heard of a JEEP? no need to get a hard on for the jap crap buddy...

I own 2 jeeps currently, and a Mazda B4000, l living for several years building up Cherokee's for trail use. That does not take away from the fact that a large majority of the rigs on the hardcore trails are Toyota's.

Okay Zukirider ....... i assume that means Suzuki Rider ....... isn't Suzuki made in Japan?

the 22r isnt that big of a deal ive wheeled with many people who own then and a lima 2.3 is equal or better stock and has wayyy more potential.

after the nuclear holocaust the only sound will be the running 22r's that didn't get shut off.

and toyota birfield joints suck ass...

improperly maintained birfs may suck ...... but show me another straight axle you can turn to full lock in a snow bank, Dump the clutch, and spin the motor so fast you are floating valves ........ and not have anything break with 33x12.50.........

the only 2 complaints about my Land Cruiser was the fact that it was carbed and the lack of an over drive. the only Bitch I had about my 2000 Taco was the seats ...... For the amount of money that King Cab TRD 4x4 with a V6 and 5spd cost it would have better seats.......... I would still have it if I had bought it instead of leasing it.

I like toyota actually, I'm not saying I'd drive one, or own one, but I like them. Toyota > any Japanese import for me. Muscle cars rot out if they even see salt or alot of water, but I don't run around saying that the 2010 mustang is junk because a car they used to make rots at at the first sign of precipitation. Both will serve you well, but the ranger has a good reputation for not giving up

we're not talking about 40 year old muscle cars here. We're talking about '95-'00 Tacomas and '00-03 Tundras. These trucks are new enough that there is no excuse for what's going on.

That's enough to turn me off of their trucks completely. Just because they didn't recall more trucks before '95 doesn't mean they didn't have problems, it just means it was long enough ago that the accounting department didn't feel it was financially advantageous.

I had an '85 Celica with a 22R-E, one of the best cars I've ever had. Great engine...but as far as I'm concerned, their 22R trucks are a truck with a great engine, drivetrain and suspension but a frame rot issue. Just like '80s Rangers have good frames but could use some improvement in the engine department.

As I said in one of my earlier posts in this thread - it's probably a toss up for which one will be a better truck, but if the odds are 50/50 it doesn't make sense to pay over double for one over the other. Only way I'd go for the Toyota is if it was the same price.

ive owend 2 yotas both have out lasted any ford i have ever owned i went places in both those trucks that broncos and f150s couldnt go. if your looking at yotas stay away from the 3.slow v6 with auto trans both of minewere the 3.slow and they did ok but once you over heat it you will need to install new head gaskets. the 22r and 22re are great motors last forever till the block gives out before anything else the only bad thing about yotas are they can be very rust prone. but other than that a straight axle 4x4 yotas are almost kings off road in my opnion. the late 80s after 85 they started using a ifs front suspension with manual hubs and a 22r or 22re with the add 4x4 engaging system. the add is a vaccum system add stand for automatic disconnecting differntal and you could shift on the fly up to 55mph with the add system they changed body styles in 95.5 and didnt competley change the engines till 95 and early 96. both of my trucks were 90 year models the first oneh ad over 360,000 miles with cracked head and it ran like a top i even rolled it and it kept running although i had to beat the roof out with a sledge it still was a great truck and my second one had i think it was 280,000 miles and ran just as smooth as my 2007 ranger and got better gasmileage beileve it or not they both have the 3.0 v6 engine in them my second one had a 4in lift with 3in body lift and would go lots of places in 2wd i rarely used 4x4 unless i had to pull someone out. little horse the older ones like mine only had one recall and it was for the steering rod and it would crack if you had oversized tires and wheels and you turned it while sitting still to much it would crack but i never had that problem and before i sold it it had 35s on it. and it was a champ started everyday no matter what. i have had more problems with fords than my yotas. but thats just me. if you want a yota make sure it is rust free on the frame other than that if you keep up on the 60,000 mile tune up which is new timing belt on the v6s and water pumps, for the 22r and 22res if you just replace the water pump at 60,000 miles it will last forever the 22r and res used a timing chain which wouldnt need replacing for about 80,000+ miles. if you take care of them they will take care of you

Such talk here! This is blasphemy! LOL

hahaha just want em to know the facts before they bash a perfectly good truck

I vote for the B2.

Two of my friends have had Toyota pickups. Both were plagued with problems and ultimately died when their engines blew. I know one had the 22r motor not sure about the other.

tomorrow I'll get a pic of my friends toyota and show you what problems it'll have in the future even if you try and fix it.

I think we're forgetting about Ford frame issues here too. I have seen at least five F-series pickups, anywhere from 80-96, that have cracked frames right at the steering box. I personally owned one of them, and it was NOT rusty. You never hear about Ford's little frame problem, but it is just as dangerous...when the frame cracks, you lose the ability to make right hand turns, and usually your power steering pressure line explodes.

Toyota may be guilty of building shitty frames, but so is Ford and they haven't admitted to a damn thing.

atleast Toyota is buying them back. Whats the excuse for my 99 Chrysler's strut towers rotting away ......... That should have been recalled .... instead the designed a repair that the owner has to pay for instead of owning up to the design flaw.

I have recently (in the last 18 months) scrapped 3 97 F-150s after i stripped them ....... all 3 had frame rot...... buy a Toyota that is not from the rust belt and you will have almost 0 problems.

my first MotorHome was a 1993 Winnabego on a Toyota Chasis..... 3.0L automatic ..... no issues, got the 95 E350 because the Toyota couldn't tow anything bigger than a Saturn.

I have not seen too many 3.0L with problems. I wasn't even aware they had issues untill it was pointed out to me in 2007 when I bought my brother a reg cab 3.0L 5spd 4wd.

Toyota is the truck that all others are measured by. There are many more hardcore wheelers using Toyotas than any other brand that is because they are very well built and durable. 300,000 miles on a Toyota 4 cylinder Toyota truck is common place. As for the 3 yotas that fell apart in the Parking lot at your school I call total BS

Hahaha... your right it was BS... I was being nice to Yotas.. It was more like 5, but 3 my sophmore year... I'm not kidding, they weren't all in the parking lot though, one of them was in auto shop, the kid was lifting up the front of his truck for a brake inspection, there was a loud crunching sound, he dropped it and it just sagged in the middle the bed resting against the cab holding it up... then the kid who had a bunch of kids in the back, and then one that just broke... the other two were i think snow related...

I mean I have seen nice toyotas and they do have pretty powerful engines, I really don't have anything against them per-se, just many kids I know who got them had them fall apart or blowup. Part because A. like I said befor they are school kids that couldn't afford decent RUST free cars so most of the yotas were already rusted to heck, and the motors blowing because the kids don't maintain vehicles like I do.

I think the engines are pretty good, I mean the 4 cylinder can turn 31's just as easiely as my v6 ranger. They seem to last awhile too, but parts and maintainance seems to be a PITA. I only really have a thing against the older pickups for the problems the cars are pretty cool. I take that back... I hate pretty much all yota truck, old ones rust and are hard to maintain, while new ones look fugly, I can't stand the tacoma or tundra, not to mention the are a PITA to change the oil on.

Oh... and the thing about frames and "steel is steel". Steel is not steel, there are so many things that affect steel. Infact I bet you could make a ranger frame out of the steel they used to make the rust yota frames and it would rust exactly the same. Maybe at different points and it may take longer but it would rust. The grade of steel and how much of the impurities they got out of it greatly affect it...

RVB's are more interesting projects then yotas, too many of my friends have yotas and jeeps and think they are soo cool and RVB's are nonsince and dont see any potential in them....

DON'T BUY THE TOYOTA!!!! My old boss had a old 88 Toyota truck and there was always something wrong with it. They never seem to hold together. Go with a Bronco II. They last longer and are built better.

Yep I agree with more interesting, I was wheeling XJ's before nearly anyone else and got laughed at when Id show up to the tougher trails. That was 10 years ago, before the any aftermarket following, now they are common place. Time for a new challenge with less aftermarket support:icon_thumby:

I finally got them
