Could a b2 be set up for a good rally car with out dieing? What would be a good set up with out flipping the truck?

My current b2 is Dana 35 locked front and back with a JD lift. I think the lift may have to come off with sway bars put on.

Are lockers still ok to have on?

is there a tumble weed class.?.?.?.

because that is what they are for high speed use:dunno:

unless your just out for fun...and not competing in a non tumbleweed class.

in a field of b2 vehicles it would be cool though

I agree with bobby, they would suck for a serious or semi-serious rally effort. If I could start over with my short course truck it would be sla, not ttb.
<<< see pic

They are kind of the wrong shape too. Rally means some sort of speed, bricks don't go too fast.

Could you lower the thing. Mabey a wider Trac 8.8 and a leaf spring under set up for the rear? Lower the front with 2wd coils? Or is the ttb better for Baja style racing? Mabry posi instead of lockers? Or open. And how about a wider smaller tire?

wider and lower help....but longer is needed as well.

jeep xj is pretty awesome because of its design.

so an explorer sport or 4 door would be something i would consider first.

and for rallye, sla.

If I were set my B2 up for rally I would put the dana 44 ttb under it without narrowing the axle, and a full width in the rear, Then keep it as low as possible.

That with a 4.0l swap would be pretty awesome.

I know some say ttb sucks. But all my research show that its mostly misunderstood. I have it on my stock ride height full size bronco mud truck that I beat the tar out of with 35s on it and have never had a problem.. Ive grenade the ford 9 3 times but not the ttb. Every time I broke it was because I dumped the clutch and floored it when I was stuck.

But if you think about it.. there's a reason a lot of trophy trucks run some version of ttb and not solid axles.

Ive considered building my bronco2 to do autocross just cause its about the worst vehicle for it. Lol like others said youre not gonna stomp people but it would be alot of fun.

i agree that ttb is misunderstood.

i feel i can say i have a pretty good understanding of ttb, and for the extreme that is typical rallye work i would stay sla...worked sla that was wider of course...but sla. if i was stuck on proving a point with a b2, i would run sla on it. possibly a irs as well....but the damn things are short. but you could get low with the sla...and wide.

for an all around machine....ttb. i dont mind ttb and its an excellent compromise for all around use.

for the extreme that is rock racing etc....a solid axle.

I don't know if a BII would be a "good" rallycar, but it would be fun. Find out who sanctions rally's in your area and get the rule book. Find the class a BII would fit in and go for it. One thing for sure, no sanctioning body will let you run without a real roll cage, that means certified as opposed to using galvanized muffler tubing. Remember lighter is faster, gut job on the interior, real seats and harnesses, etc.

I rallied a Mustang II for years with the SCCA here in Montana, with a ground pounding 4 cyl/4 spd powerplant. It sure felt like I was going fast! As I recall all of the rallys I participated in were on Forest Service or like type private roads.

The spiky hair dude on extreme 4x4 built a nice rally car using a Ford Focus on a budget of around 10k.

How about a ex cab with a 4.0 and a dana 28 set up?

as long as you got piles of d28 parts.

i would be tempted to run a d44 ttb, 150 sla and a matching fullsize rear axle to one of those and keep it low as possible.
