Broken fitting Iden

Trying to figure out what this fitting is for so I can find a replacement.

broke when I was dropping the fuel tank, and I didn’t realize it was there.

something with evap I’m guessing?
 
Also, how the hell do I get these hoses off the fitting. I tried heating them up and I'm pretty sure that made it worse.
 
It looks like emission junk.

Its not that big of a deal rubber hose and clamps can fix that.

Get a T fitting about that size and cut that plastic piece out then use rubber hose over the plastic lines.

What you broke is an evap line, no "emissions junk". The evap system captures and stores fuel vapor that evaporates in the tank instead of letting it vent to atmosphere and be wasted.

The particular part you broke goes to the roll-over valve. It's just a check valve that keeps the evap system from flooding with liquid fuel if you roll the truck.

To remove the line from the valve you squeeze the white buttons and pull.

To remove the remainder of the leg you broke from the main line, well that wasn't really meant to come apart. I think you actually broke a plastic tit off inside the clamped line that is still attached to the tank.

That's the money.

I guess I'll just take Dirtman's advice on removal technique, then head to the plumbing department.
 
I have found if you want to try and duplicate what the factory did and push the plastic line up onto a barb, it works better if you take a heat gun and heat the barb, not the line. Then push the line quickly up on the heated barb. If you heat the line, it gets weak and won't go up on the barbed fitting.

Like someone else mentioned, rubber line works well, the plastic line goes by OD and rubber line goes by ID so they match well and there is no pressure to speak of on those evap lines.
 
I found boiling the lines to be the only way to get them together. Definitely a PITA when one side is still on the truck though.
