Hi all, I replaced a broken rear brake line and both rear drum cylinders. Now my rear brakes won’t bleed. My front brakes bleed perfectly. I found the RABS in the frame up front and do not see a bleeder. I had my wife hold the break pedal as I cracked the master cylinder lines several times until they were steady stream and still nothing. Please help me out. Thanks.

Take your rear bleeder screws all the way out and run a 1/8" drill bit down both holes. They are probably plugged up with rust.

When I first got my B2 the rear lines were so bad that when I went to change the brake fluid I couldn't get anything out there either. I opened them both up wide, started the engine, and stood on the pedal. That got things moving.

The rear bleeder screws are brand new. I replaced the cylinders in the drums.

RABS is maybe the problem something about the bellow or spring needs to be reset in order to bleed it

I’ve read a lot about this before I posted and still can’t figure it out. What about the RABS is the issue and how do I correct it? Thanks.

I usually let them gravity bleed to get the fluid back there. OPen the bleeders... fill the master and wait for them to drip. Sometimes it take awhile.

Not sure that will work.. If you think it will I will try it... I even hooked up my mitivac hand vaccum pump to the bleeders and removed the brake line and tried sucking from the block... still no fluid.

You're going to need a big socket and a breaker bar to doit the way this guy says to do it. I can't imagine even trying to work on that damn thing.

Start cracking lines open and find the last place you have fluid.

I know your pretty savvy on these trucks.. you’ve helped me out a lot in the past. Should the RABS have a bleeder? Would make things a lot easier?

The only one I have dealt with first hand with RABS is my B2, but my dad has a 250 from this era with RABS. Both of those do have bleeders on the valve. Although last year when I did the brake lines on his truck I took the RABS valve out.

Ok, I started at the master cylinder, (push brake and hold with assistant method) bled both lines coming out of master cylinder. Bled both lines at the RABS (all I could get was a steady fast dripping from RABS) and still nothing at the rear drum bleeders, even with my mitivac hand pump. They are currently open now in hopes gravity will help.
