Broken brake line, brakes won’t bleed!

Ok last post (I think) Not sure what I did right, but I got the rear brakes bled and truck stops on a DIME! I started the truck to see if my yellow REAR ANTILOCK light was still on, and it was not. So I left the rear bleeders open and went for drive up and down my dirt road... driving..stopping..driving...stopping etc.. I did this in forward and reverse in hopes to adjust the rear drums in the process. I parked the truck back in the garage, crawled back up underneath it and what do you know.. there was fluid dripping out of the drivers side rear bleeder. With the truck running I had the brakes pushed, held, let go multiple times and open/closed the rear bleeder repeatedly. Then I tried the passenger side rear bleeder, what do you know there was fluid. Took the truck back out for a drive and stopped EVEN BETTER this time. Got back to garage bled everything again.. I believe the nightmare is over. Thanks for letting me pick all you guys’ brain on this.

Well that just pretty much proves the rabs valve is working like a check valve because it's letting the fluid go in one direction.

Hopefully you'll be okay,. but please just be vigilant about dragging rear brakes it kind of sneaks up on you, one day you notice the truck doesn't roll as easy. another time the back wheels are really hot for no reason at all, gas mileage drops...

I would assume it’s working as it should then, no? Dragging rear brakes could be an issue on a brand new ranger in 1991 I suppose. While bleeding after applying the brake pedal and bleeder valve was opened, the fluid would shoot out and stop then start dripping.. only then would the pedal start to creep towards the floor very slowly, must be the way the RABS works.. seems correct from what I’ve read and what you all have been saying being a proportional valve.

If your ABS light is off... the brake indicator is off... I would say the the valve is centered back up and the thing is working fine at this point. I do believe it stuck and you running up and down the road pumping the brakes freed things up and allowed fluid to once again flow freely to the rear brakes.

I'm not exactly what is trying to be said.... but if the rear brakes begin to drag... you will know it and you can cross that bridge when/if it ever happens.

I may take a little time and pull some data together and perhaps put and informative piece of information out there for reference by all.

That’s a great idea, I’ve seen ALOT of posts and people with this issue. I will double check tomorrow but I believe AllData did say to bleed with the truck running. Glad I could shed alittle light to the issue :icon_thumby:

You don't have to be an internet Wizkid to find the hundreds of problems people have had with rabs.

I'm glad it's working for you now I hope it continues to work! I'm just not a fan of that particular piece of junk.

M, per a question you asked.

Master Cylinder Port Sizes:Primary M10x1.0 , Secondary M12x1.0

These are the pre-made lines I got to do the bypass, it worked out pretty well
