Yes another question...

Can a brake booster fail and still have power brakes?

I notice a squeel/whistle noise thats very slight but goes away when i hit the brakes. First i thought it was a pad or something but it sounds underhood.

Truck got cruise control? The noise might just be the dump valve venting, but that's inside the cab.

Yeah its got cruise. But it all seems to function fine. I never heard it before untill the last few times i drove it.

Wondering though if im hearing it because i got a bad door seal on the drivers side. Seals not bad but the pins went bad and i had maaco fix it and they did some rig job on it that i wasnt exactly happy with, now theres a big gap there. The hinges were worn and they welded washers on to take up the slack.

Maybe ill shove it full of weather seal and see if i stop hearing it.

Could be.

When I put a new muffler on the Explorer, I started hearing all kinds of new noises.

But then the voices in my head told me that it was just my imagination.

It doesnt run bad or throw a check engine. But with a 460 i could pry drill 3/4 inch holes in the intake runners and it wouldnt notice

I've seen boosters with internal leaks whistle when the pedal is pressed. Sometimes you can change the tone of the whistle by slowly pressing and releasing the pedal. If it's the cruise cut out switch you could cap the line off and the noise would stop.

Hmm...mine whistles untill i hit the brakes. I dont know.

I gotta put U joints in the turd once i get time, ill look into it then. Maybe cap off the booster line see if it goes away
