When I went to get new Bosch O2 sensor for my trusty ol' pushrod 4.0 parts guy recommended NTK. Said they're better.
Googled his claim and half dozen posts said same thing.
What's the blue oval coalition opinion?

NTK is a good brand and probably would run fine but like Rusty said, Bosch is who makes the Motorcraft O2 sensors. Generally speaking, I've found it best to stick with OEM or who makes OEM when it comes to electrical stuff. Some times the off brand, even a reputable off brand, just doesn't play well in certain vehicles. Bosch, for example does NOT play well in Hondas. Whatever it is about them, they just fail soon after install, if not right away. NTK would be one of the brands to go with in a Honda.

I totally agree Josh B.
Have to question reliability of parts guy that recommends downstream O2 when ask for bank1 upstream sensor. 😛

He probably meant well and went with what he knows. Unfortunately, a lot of parts guys only have limited maintenance experience. So while they may know something, it might be enough to get you in trouble. I've worked on enough brands that I could probably do better but I also generally know when I'm out of my depth and stop right there. Like anyone else though, someone who knows more comes along and will show the error of my ways went I venture too far in to what I only "think" I know.

It certainly helps to go to dedicated forums like this in order to verify the information given before you spend the money or before you install the part and have to eat it because some electronic parts have a not return policy with them once they have been installed.

I had a parts guy at autozone literally arhue with me trying to say my 460 came factory with platnium plugs.

Got same run-around rusty ol ranger.
When ask for copper core spark plugs parts guy insisted 4.0 HAD to use platinum. I've been running copper kind forever and never had any problem.
He just wanted extra commission from expensive ones.

Are upstream O2 sensors wide band or narrow band? My understanding is wide upstream, narrow downstream. Some I see online are narrow for both applications. 🤔
