What BRAND is the OEM Alternator on ye olde Vulcan? BOSCH? Hitachi? AC-Delco?

Just avoid using the brakes. The skinny pedal is much more fun than the wide pedal.

I bought some shitty rotors from AZ once that didn't last as long as the pads did..... was pissed when I had to change them again.

Sometimes it's the pads that eat the rotors. My cavalier ate up rotors like crazy. I tried several different brands and even slotted rotors, they would still warp and wear like crazy. I switched from ceramic pads to organic and never had to replace the rotors again. The organic pads sucked for everything else but they didn't chew up the rotors. :icon_rofl:

The pads that came on my wife's Fiesta ST ate up the front rotors in 20kmi. I put Duralast rotors and semi-metallic pads on it and after 25k more miles the rotors are still perfect. Yeah, it probably had a little longer stopping distance but she's not actually running it on the track.

Now she wants EBC Yellow pads, which will probably kill the rotors fast.

Not sure about ALL AutoZone/Duralast components, but... just installed one of their MAFs and noted that it was made in The Good China (Taiwan), not the ChiCom Mainland. Time will tell, but 2 weeks in all good at all RPMs.

>>>> BACK ON TOPIC: doubting my original overcharging thesis... have a little ciggy-lighter USB charger with a voltage readout, and no matter how high the RPMs, never see it go above 14.0V...

... I think the excessive corrosion on only the POS terminal is down to:

1) Deleted the felt washers and dielectric grease on the previous hasty battery install;
2) Thermal blanket disintegrated about the same time--attenuates the RATE of delta-Temp changes
3) perhaps my 30-40 minute lunchtime naps w/ stereo on and ENGINE OFF, causes too-deep cycling on drive home? That "soothing sounds" CD is a bit WARM when ejected... CD motor running, not just radio... hmmm...

She does that, but back when she raced I'm not sure she used the brakes much, so maybe the pads don't matter.

Pro Stock? Dirt track? Regardless, she's a keeper.

Road courses - she raced SCCA in ITC. She's stuck around for 28 years so far, I guess she can stay.
