I have a 1999 ford Ranger xlt 4x4 off road with a 7.5 inch 4.10 gear ratio and 10 inch brakes. Is it possible to change rear end to a 7.5 3.73 ?

Yes it is quite is easy to swap in another ranger axle with 3.73 gears (doing the whole axle is easier than swapping just the gears). but out of curiosity... good god why?

Recently purchased vehicle and teeth on rear differential ring gear broke off and ruined it. Less expensive to replace complete rear end. Is it possible to install an 8.8 and or LSD ?

I ment why go with 3.73 over 4.10... but yes an 8.8 is a direct bolt on replacement for a 7.5 finding one with the factory LSD can be tricky but they are out there.

Thank you . I was thinking I may get better gas mileage and local salvage yard doesn't have a 7.5 /
4.10 open rear end.

If you change to a different gear ratio, don’t forget to change the front also.

Would drive axle and shocks need any modifications ?

I didnt realize I need to change front end as well. Makes sense now that I think about it.

any Ranger axle from '93 to 2009 I think will work either 7.5" or 8.8" and be a direct bolt on, I think somewhere around 2007 they changed the hub size in the rear axle so the drums don't interchange but that's the only difference. You can swap the 9" and 10" brake backing plates between the two I believe.

Fortunately local salvage yard has an 8.8 inch 4.10 gear ratio 10 inch inch brake rear end. I am removing drive axle to change u-joints as well. How do I reinstall drive axle to new rear end correctly?

do you mean drive shaft?
quick clean the yolk so the caps set good and tight, place straps and tighten.

What I meant is usually you mark the drive shaft but I'm replacing rear end. How do I re install driveshaft so there are no issues ?

Luck of the draw. You dont have a choice

I don't see anything about a driveshaft in the 1993 splash 4x4 project.

????

When you mentioned something you called a drive axle with u-joints it sounded like you were talking about what is normally called the drive shaft which connects tje transmission or transfer case to the pinion at the differential.
