BOJAC

Well he is excited about his bumper...

It was a cold and rainy day today so we struck off to tinker with his truck today. Last year I had given Ron a set of helper springs for it since it usually sat down a little in the rear on our trips... so I decided we outta get those put in.

First thing... jack it up.

What kind of land of make believe is this?

Brake drums were loose so I went ahead and slipped them off since I could.

Also had a kindergarten level lesson about how it works and how this is different than my truck...

Installed the springs, he did everything fingertight for him, I came back and snugged everything up.

We have full skidplateage:

Reinstall the tires:

Took it for a test drive, I don't think I have them tightened enough to really do much but running empty it doesn't really need them. It sits about level.

It would be nice if I could find someone parting out an Explorer so I could snag the rear springs, they work great in mine with the fiberglass topper. It may not be what it would seem but originally truck had three leaves and the overload which may explain why these are kind of on the light side only having two leaves and the overload. For referance to the "land of make believe with the the paint still on the leaves and the drums just sliding off... here is my cleaner than average '85 circa 2012 when I swapped in the 8.8

Then we were dreaming big at hobofreight...

If the old leaves from that thing are still floating around you could just take one and add it to the stack, if any still have arch that is... even if it's just the main leaf, cut the eyes off and stack it in... I agree on the explorer packs working good, they aren't quite enough on an explorer but on a Ranger they're not bad, heck I added an extra second leaf to my '00 Explorer to keep it from squatting in the back...

They did not depart the truck willingly and got a slow boat ride to China like 10 years ago

Drove it down to a gas station and filled the tank (it was down to 1/8 of a tank). Dumped some Stay-Bil in it and filled it up for winter. Hopefully we get it out more next year. Ran some errands with it, we put about 15mi on it so hopefully it is mixed up well and worked clear thru the system well.

Ron had this thing, I don't even really know what you call it but it bluetooth's off your phone and basically gives you Android Auto/Apple Carplay. I think we are missing some of the pieces of the bracketry but I got it working and it was pretty slick. Ron wasn't happy with its position over there but Oliver was having fun with it on his side.

So for a winter project I need to get it mounted better.

Also I really need to snag seat brackets for it yet, its got me up in the headliner something fierce. I've been eyeing the JY, nothing of suitable age has came in for quite some time.

Nice.

You said it had explorer buckets with the electric tracks on it didn't you? That would definitely make them tall as heck... Those are the hardest to find seat tracks, I think it's only like '88-92 or something random, 60/40 wasn't all that common back then, I just happened on my tracks by dumb luck... Was that originally a bench seat rig? If so there might be some missing bracketry on the bottom of the cab, my floor fatigued enough to break in multiple places around the middle holes and the cab buckled a little at least with two people in it... I ended up putting a piece of bed frame (was the only angle iron I had handy of the right size) and it fit perfectly, don't remember exactly what I did but could get pictures tomorrow...
