Well he is excited about his bumper...
It was a cold and rainy day today so we struck off to tinker with his truck today. Last year I had given Ron a set of helper springs for it since it usually sat down a little in the rear on our trips... so I decided we outta get those put in.
First thing... jack it up.

What kind of land of make believe is this?

Brake drums were loose so I went ahead and slipped them off since I could.

Also had a kindergarten level lesson about how it works and how this is different than my truck...
Installed the springs, he did everything fingertight for him, I came back and snugged everything up.

We have full skidplateage:

Reinstall the tires:

Took it for a test drive, I don't think I have them tightened enough to really do much but running empty it doesn't really need them. It sits about level.
It would be nice if I could find someone parting out an Explorer so I could snag the rear springs, they wort great in mine with the fiberglass topper. It may not be what it would seem but originally truck had three leaves and the overload which may explain why these are kind of on the light side only having two leaves and the overload. For referance to the "land of make believe with the the paint still on the leaves and the drums just sliding off... here is my cleaner than average '85 circa 2012 when I swapped in the 8.8

Then we were dreaming big at hobofreight...
