Ok I have a 89 ranger with the 2.9 my buddy has a 3 in body lift I was wondering can I put that on my truck with nothing else last week I put 2 inch blocks in the back and the leveling kit for the front I'm thinking I might have problems with the tranny stick and 4x4 lever and stering box length anyone know

your suspension lift doesnt affect anything for the body lift...that is just moving the axles down, has nothing to do with the frame to body interface.

That said, you will probably need to extend your steering column, gas filler tube, and E-brake front cable bracket on the frame. I also recall having to hack a slash a little bit the plastic cup holder around the stick shift, but the hole in the floor pan itself had enough clearance (different year than you, may be some differences).

If your buddy has a complete lift kit, it should come with everything you need. If not, i think your biggest hurdle will be the steering extension.

No I blocked the truck up when I got it and the body lift is off a dodge but a body lift is a body lift so there is no stering ext but some guys say you need it others don't anyone ever put a 3 inch bl on a 89 4x4 if you need the stering ext I will buy one but if I don't have to I rather put it to my 6 inch sup lift for summer

You blocked the truck? Block it from going where?

If you put blocks between the leaf spring and axle that is lifting the suspension. Placing spacers between the frame and the body lifts the body farther off of the frame. I suggest purchasing a FORD RANGER body lift. They are cheap and you will have all of the correct hardware and brackets.

My first body lift on a ranger was just 3 inch bl blocks I found in a trunk. It went on a 87 ranger just loosen your streering shaft and trim the Fan shroud and your good no filler neck or e brake mods or shifter mods needed
