I've got 2000 Ford ranger with the 4.0 and it has an automatic transmission, in which is blown. I was wondering what year transmissions could I bolt up to the 2000 4.0? Thanks in advance.

Will a 1993 4.0 transmission work?On the edge of the drivers door there will be a label
Look here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/axle_codes.shtml
It will have the AXLE code and it will have the TRANS code
T = 4R55E 4-speed transmission
D = 5R55E 5-speed transmission
Either could be used depending on what factory it was assembled at, but by 2000 it is probably a 5R
The 2000 Rangers computer runs the transmission so you need to match 4R or 5R or it won't shift correctly
The 55E means it is for a 4.0l engine so any 55E will bolt to your 4.0l
44E was for 3.0l or 2.3l/2.5l engines so won't work
Transmission also needs to match your 2WD or 4WD setup, no conversion is available
In 2000 2WD Rangers used the rear axle ABS sensor for speedometer so you could use any year 4R55E or 5R55E depending on what you have in there now.
4WD used transfer case speed sensor so same should apply for 4WD transmission
