Thanks, Doofy. I probably should change the oil (had the truck just over a year, but I've only put 1,000km on it (600 miles). It's long out of warranty, so at this point, if I've voided the warranty (probably says change every six months or 5,000km), then I guess I'm just out of luck.

My dad bought a 1987 Escort in 1988. Even it didn't have clear, shiny headlight lenses. Neither did Mom's 1992 Escort, brand new. Something tells me that those early years of composite headlights weren't a clear lense, not like today.
