the proud owner with his fixed Driveshaft

the truck is now running around with a new U-Joint and a ratchet strap holding the Gas tank up ( the shaft took out a tank strap )

i showed him this site and he should be joining soon

looks like he was way past due for the joint...it looks to me its been wearing down for a long time

he said he had been noticing a slight vibration , and he needs to do something with his drive haft angles , they are way screwed up , and he beats the living hell outta this truck

If your friend has 4wd and he was to stupid to pull the driveshaft out of the slip yoke and put it in 4wd, I feel bad for you.....

why?

Id say that that all looks like caused by lack of maintenance

my 95 ranger almost did the same thing. i had be noticing some clunks when i would got from park and reverse or to drive. anyway i didn't think much of it. finally got tired of of the noise and took it out to look it. i couldn't believe what i was seeing. the flange on my started to wear but not at all like that but my ujoint was the same

glad no one got hurt

true...maintinance would have solved the problem....

but all he would have had to hve done was pulled the rear driveshaft put it in 4wd and drive home using the front wheels to save his buddy from makeing a 140 mile round trip to get him

common sense is not that common:icon_rofl: IM betting he had no tools in the truck

also commen sense...if your driving an RBV...bring tools :D

33's and stock 3.73 gears , 3.0L with 15x,xxx miles , do the math on how that would have went

you have to love non-greasable u-joints , and what is scary is that these are ones the PO put in the truck

he had no tools , he is an electrician , it is not like he carries a 12mm 12pt socket , extension and breaker bar in his truck , and see above reply to 86 to answer the FWD issue , and he has bailed me out more than once , so i owed him one , even though this was a little bigger favor than the couple he has done for me

mmmm working in dirt in snow at least its not mud, my buddy broke his in the mud. unfortunatly i didn't help with that one. haha supervision needed

btw...i wasnt bashing on your buddy...just clarifying what was said

and again he needs to know the RBV rules.....lol

well i call him a dumbass all the time because he did the lift and everything himself , knew he was gonna be running 33's , and had the Diff's apart to put Aussie Lockers in both , and left the stock gears

and we have to check the U-Bolts tomorrow , as his axle is physically rocking up and do as he applies and gets off the throttle going down the street , he had the rear acle out not to long ago because he blew the other on up and i asked him is he torqued the U-Bolts , his response " I Don't Know " , never let an Electrician do drivetrain work

why we call Electricians "shock" absorbers where we work......

most i wouldn't trust to plug in a coffee pot :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl:

true tools are good to have...most don't really know how to do the repairs though...
