and the reason he hasn't done it, by what i understand, is that he is gonna make a top like a fullsize bronco that is removable with the stock styling.

which, fyi, there is some guidance to turning the stock hatch into a tailgate on that thread.

ooo...i c. yea that whole ranger back end of the cab idea seems cool, but what i wanted was it to be open. that way if i fold my rear seats down i can utilize the whole length from tailgate in for cargo. plus on these hot summer days in oregon or at the dunes i love it. only experience i have with it is with a toy 4 runner...and i love the concept.

my top is still going to take some time...but in the meantime im going to have a soft top made that will fasten in place with button snaps like on that link you showed me. its going to slant down, i guess like a hummer or something, but im going to have windows in it...just cheap ones that fade like jeep soft top windows or something. i have a tailgate for a ranger on hand, any threads on what goes into making it work for my explorer? i saw how the red ex did it with those brackets, but that was just a modified hatch. im gonna use my tailgate.

thats an awesome build you have going there. once you get your top figured out a full cage should be next in line to protect everyone.

did you sell that red BII you had?

no i still got it. its actually my dads...and my little bro just got an 01 ranger with a small lift and 33s....so nice. so between us all we have all the rbvs. il have pics of that up soon. on my truck im not planning a full cage, i was thinking a b and c pillar bar, and from the c pillar back i was going to angle bars down to follow that 'hummer' contour i wanted...

You make me want an Explorer just to do this.

Oh, and I got bored while I was sitting here sooo I did a quick chop..

that photoshop looks so sick man. thats kinda what im going for...but throw a spare tire on the angled part and a triangle window on the sides and its pretty much there

lookin good. what gave you the idea to do that?? i like it

i dont think ive ever seen it done...ive had this idea of converting my truck into a real recovery vehicle or just a fully equipped truck with everything id need for any situation i would encounter. that suv back end had to go! this way i can fit a truck bed box, i was thinking one that fits a ranger or small duty truck...diamond plate utility box. then i was gonna have side compartments in the truck bed sides...that storage space should fit a lot. il have a vice im gonna incorporate in the truck, ive got onboard air, i want to get a welder, ya know....pretty much a fully dressed truck? i know im talking a lot of weight but i think il be alright. ya gotta see what i got planned for the roof.
