Just like the title says. Has anyone EVER seen this done?

My first reaction was "that's disgusting". But then I realized I literally had never seen it done. I only found a few photos of a Porsche Cayenne interior, which was more mixed black/white than it was a fully white interior.

I know painting the truck white will lower interior temps a lot more than interior color but if I get white seats it will also be a lot less youch factor during those 110+F days in the sun.

So, aside from the initial stomach lurching, does anyone know anything about this?

I don't know what you're asking, but I think it could look very good... Much nicer than say.... Red interior...

tuxedo interior on a black street truck is NICE...

on a 4wd, that's used as a 4wd, i wouldn't suggest it, nor think it would look good.

tux interior has to be done right.

now all white? i've seen it in show cars/trucks.. but never a ranger.

I'm just asking for general opinions. "Do it" or "don't even dare".

Its a 91 Ext Cab black.. so older style interior. Dash is cracked anyways, need to redo that, and I am trying to source some decent door panels that I can reupholster and recolor. The carpet I plan on replacing as well, and I found a place that does carpet in neon colors.... could get fully white carpet but that just seems like a stupid idea in a truck lol.

I was going to do a fully black interior with some (possibly) Harley Davidson seats but the truck is already fairly warm inside when it hits 75 out with a light gray interior. Back in Sacramento, 90+ days were AC or windows down all the way all day.

This is just the only part of my truck that I don't really have a "vision" for. I have no idea what colors to go with.

Side question, can you get aftermarket AC compressors for the 4.0? If I got something that worked amazingly quick and got really cold I would totally be down for a black on black truck.

1. i say a nice tuxedo interior would look better than an all white one. but all in all, i don't think i'd dare do it!

2. my 4.0 compressor gets cold quick... works great. its stock to. and i'm in the south, nice humid 110 degree days lol.

Hmm.. So even a black interior isn't as much of a hassle as people make it out to be? I have noticed my A/C works well but my truck never got cold.

Probably due to piss poor insulation though. I have no headliner, just sheet metal. I'll mull it over. Something about black leather seats just seems right lol.

EDIT : http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/abs_boards/pickups/ford_ranger.htm

Will the 93 headliner fit into a 91 ex-cab? I have no headliner board at all and these seem to be fairly reasonable prices. Or am I better off with a JY piece?

Someone did a post on recovering the old headliners...that way if you can find a ratty one you can customize it with whatever material you like...but you will need to find one from an earlier model...I have one in my Ranger now and it makes a big difference in temps and sound...my first Ranger was bare bones and it was like a tin can inside it...with all the echos and noises

From what I've seen, the later headliners will not fit...I think they are narrower than earlier models...

I'll try and find an upholstery shop in the local area that can maybe mold me a headliner board from the ABS sheets you can buy.... really trying to avoid getting a crappy headliner board from a JY.

I read something about getting an old headliner board and then making a new one from fiberglass. Anyone done it?

If you want to go with fiber, why not just "lay"fiber on the ceiling and resin it up...

you can use any color you want... whatever your personal preference is really.

Keep contrast in mind. You dont want to use too many light colors on the interior. White, blue, red, purple. etc etc. It can be very over powering and take away from the overall look

Add contrast, if your going to have a light color. make sure you add a dark color that compliments the lighter color. I would use white as your highlight color and leave most of the interior black. Changing around your gauge cluster to white take away from the look of your gauges. also white on the top of the dash is a very bad idea as white reflects light very well and will cause excessive glare on your windshield.

Black A Pillars, B Pillars and headliner will give the interior a more cramped feeling but can help give other areas more attention. A lighter color headliner will brighten up the interior more and give it a more roomy feel.

Since the headliner will make such a big difference (from what I've heard) in interior temps and how well the A/C works, I think I'm just going to go with black interior. Be nice to get some white or light gray highlights though. I'll see what I can do.

Weezl you mean just fiber/resin to the top of the cab?

Fiberglass sheeting and a paintbrush with resin on it... I would paint the inside of the roof with resin, then press the fabric onto it

I'm going to lay down some 1/2" sound/thermal insulation though. And need to get to wires for the dome and third brake light. And I want the headliner removable so if I redo the interior I can lay down suede up top. Just wish there was a place to get ABS headliner boards for a 91.

you can do that... it's a little more difficult to make a custom one if you want it removable though... basically just need a layer of something between them... piece of plastic or something... it's super simple from there on out, just reverse gravity so that the fiber and resin doesn't fall off the roof

My headliner is original...I think there is about 1/8" or less foam under the material...1/2" would be overkill perhaps...unless you plan to sleep in it in the winter...
