BIITR, 1 tons and 38x20 v-bars

Nope trail use only. Oh and fawk off too, shit aint bustin:thefinger: What I build I wheel, hard. And I would not have done anything the way I had if I thought it would fail me on the trail getting used and abused!

Tires are 38x20R16.1 NHS Goodyear Terra Tires.

not to sound like a prick, but thank god this isn't street driven. :thefinger: what I don't understand is why would you fab a "shackle" to fit into another shackle up front? wouldn't it be better and safer to just completely fab up a whole new shackle? your also lucky that the 2.9 isn't powerful enough to motivate that thing, it seems like running those blocks would make it axle wrap like hell and possibly break parts. I mean its a pretty mean looking trail rig, but there are a bunch of things I think should be addressed.

^ coming from a guy running "Big Blue" with 2" of lift and 31's...

Looks gnarly Todd. I'm sure there would be some things I would've done differently fab wise (mostly due to cosmetics), but I'm sure it'll hold up, and you'll put it to the test. Looking forward to some action pics later on.

There is nothing wrong with the structural integrity of the front shackles. I may not look the best but I don’t care IT WILL WORK. I had some F-350 shackles so I used them. If I totally fabbed my own then I would have had to buy a bushing end and I am and was trying to keep cost down. My rear shackles are about the same and have lasted 3 years of abuse. Taken some HARD hits and nothing bent.

And about the 2.9 not being able to motivate it yet is very true. I haven’t regeared it yet. And I have only wheeled it once for a few hours with this current setup. You make it seem as though This is the first truck I have built and I don’t know shit, and its far from that.

I am planning on building a rear anti-wrap bar and I have stated that. I have also been thinking at how to build a front one. Both that wont limit flex. Why haven’t I stated that, well I haven’t wheeled the damn thing enough to know what more I need to do to it.

bray: my bad cool guy, but i'm not in a hurry to bootyfab a lift and don't want to ruin my truck quite yet. :thefinger: I do mods that I can afford(I have a budget of $0) to do with the tools I have for now. I don't even have half of the proper tools to even start any sort of sas or major fab project yet. so I haven't and won't cut into it until I get the tools and parts I need. he posted his rig to show it off and get opinions on it, which I gave. just cause I don't have the money to build my rig and really wheel it yet doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion.

todd: I didn't want to come off like you know nothing, i'm just stating what I would do. IMO if there is a way to ditch the front block I don't think you'd really need an antiwrap in the front. what type of antiwrap are you thinking of in the rear? a "y" style with a heim or a threaded bushing at the frame/shackle end of the bar would work and wouldn't hider the flex all that much.

I just find it amusing when the guy with a BL and 31's starts harping on the guy with a dedicated trail rig on tons about his fab skills. Like I said, though everythings not cosmetically appealing, I'm sure it will hold up to the abuse that Todd WILL give it.

You could have all the fab tools you need for the price you paid for those Corbeau seats :thefinger:. My whole truck was built with an angle grinder, drill, and arc welder.

its not as if I don't know the first thing about fabrication and metal working. I took welding classes in heavy plate fabrication, pipe fitting and metallurgy classes at my local CC right after high school and stupidly finished only half of the 2 year program to work full time in a fab/machine shop. now I got laid off and am saving most of the UI money i've been getting to go back to school. also, I bought the seats cause my fat ass broke my stock ones and I got too good of a deal on the corbeau set to pass up. :thefinger: It was still a dumb buy regardless of the deal I got and they're probably gonna be for sale soon. there's also the issue of no garage space available for me anymore, and having to keep all my tools in my explorer. but lets not keep clogging up this thread with bullshite any longer than we already have?

:bling:

I can't wait to see this in action, hopefully sometime in the next few months? :D

Fordxranger, I've wheeled with Todd MANY times, helped work on his truck back when it was, well, a B2. The only thing I've seen break is axle shafts and a sector shaft in his doubler, never seen something that Todd build break. I trust his fab skills :icon_thumby:

At least he got rid of that God awful pitman arm :icon_rofl:

I like it Todd, Remember what I told ya when you stopped by and was looking over my truggy............It looks like hell and I could have made it "look" better but I am wheeling right now and having fun while my friends stuff is on blocks. I don't care what people think, the shit works, the shit is proven to have been safe and its getting abused.

Rocks and Valleys Labor Day weekend? (If I fix my shit in time lol)

But where do you get 123.08 and 49.63 for ratios?

I am at 112.50 and 45.36 with the M50RD, 1350/54, and 5.38's?

Id buy that thing in a haeart beat if I thought I could afford to replace one of the forklift tires. I would DD it too. Alot of people get on teh trails specifically to find their weak spots and modify them. I say run it as is and good luck to you.

Id wheel with ya. Ugly trucks get it done in spectacular fashion and his shackles are fine my truck has basically the same design front(except m shackles are on the rear) and rear and has been airborn and twisted hard enough to warp the cab and frame and no problems.

Holly WA……………………….

Today built a panhard bar for the front to locate the axle. And damn it’s a night and day difference. Steering is way better and it just feels way better.

Took her through some paces tonight and all I have to say is damn, I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Just walking through shit like it was nothing. Running over sets of BIG fallen tree trunks, just romping on it, bouncing all over hell and nothing busting in the axles. From what I did tonight I would have blown a few of my old front shafts with my 35’s, no dought.

Moved some serious earth with the front shackles. Also masked into some stumps and hit them while climbing trees, not on purpose. Nothing failed. Was in a valley winching around some trees while climbing a hill, way off camber. After I got through I looked at one of the trees and could not believe how high up my tire tracks where. And it felt so stable, man full widths, the shit. Side hilling is insane.

Also some more body damage after tonight.

Also did some bombing around in 2wd in sand, a rear anti wrap bar is needed, bad wheel hop. But I was expecting that. Going to go with the traditional design but with a twist, to allow twist.

Im so gitty right now.

Brian, soon enough man, SOON.

CTB2, I looked at the tech and I didn’t know that 4 liter M5OD’s where 3.40 first gear. Mine is the original behind the 2.9 so its 3.72 first. Both the 1350 and 1354 are 2.48 to one so……

3.72x2.48x2.48x5.38=123.09 final
