Biggest Ford I've ever worked on...

somebody knows their jawn^^^^^^I like this thread wondered where it went....

IS the M4A1E8 the one they called the Easy 8? Did you ever get to see the site called Amored Fighting Vehicle Interiors? It was a killer site with hundreds of photos,I spent many days studying that site but sadly they took it down:( There was also a Russian site called Red Steel that was really good,it had many many photos of knocked out German tanks, last I looked it was gone too:(

I got to see an M4A4 at the Chrysler Museum a couple of years ago. It looked pretty wild with those engines all bolted together like that. I love this thread. Can we expect to see you on Tank Overhaul sometime soon? It sure is cool to see that technology being restored.

Both the M4A1E8 and the M4A3E8 were called "Easy eight". And yes, I used to browse AFV Interiors all the time. It really sucked when it went down, totally unexpected. Luckily a short time before that, I saved the majority of the site's info on my computer for reference when I don't have internet access. Still have it stored away somewhere. All pictures included.

Wild indeed. And the fact that it has 30 cylinders. Try finding that miss. It's quite excessive really, and under powered. Only advantage is that supposedly it could run on half of it's cylinders if the others were knocked out...somehow I find that hard to believe.

Tank Overhaul would be an awesome gig. It's my ultimate dream job. But we don't have the kind of funding those museums and private collectors have. Maybe that day will come...who knows.

I'll have more pictures this weekend.

Hero's Arms!!
Just wanna say : cool!

Who do I need to call to get you on Tank Overhaul?! You're just showing that it can be done without a multi million dollar budget!

damn dude if you ever need an extra hand id love to help out lol. Seriously though I would be more then willing to help or at minimum watch. how often do you get to see that stuff

I have riden in a Bradley once before, and not to my parents knowledge, an Abrams, now those are quick little buggers, cramped like hell too, well.... compared to my room.... but roomy compared to the Bradley!

I used to go to Military lots where they stored old military tanks and vehicles and I used to climb around them when I was younger, and up to about 8 years ago, you could.... then they had a little asian "rich" kid get tetnis, and they shut down the place for a few years, opened it back up with new management and vehicles, and they say "no climbing, avoiding lawsuits". WRITE A DAMN WAVER!

cool tank, I am one for Shilka's, I have always wanted one, they are pretty quick, some are still in service, a lot of them were made, cheaper cause foreign, and they were not as bad on gas as a lot of tanks during its time! (also, it was anti-air with a rapid-fire assault!)

As often as I can get down there. So when I'm available (which isn't very often) and when the owner or someone else is there, I put some time in on all sorts of projects there. It doesn't help that I live 45 miles away and have tight funds right now. Remember, it's volunteer...

A recap and update.

Here is how it looked right after the engine was pulled.

Now for some bad news... The oil pan we were waiting on turned out to be for a Ford GAF engine, not a GAA. Both were all aluminum v8 tank engines, almost exactly the same, but the oil pan was definitely different. So we're back to square one on that.

But she sure is lookin' pretty!:icon_hornsup:

Started removing the bad oil pan. About 40 nuts and bolts later, it was off.

That is a big ass starter.
