Biggest Ford I've ever worked on...

What is the tank destroyer in the back left of the picture on page 5 please?

I assume you're talking about this picture.

Those aren't tank destroyers, though they'd do a pretty good job of doing that against any tank from ww2. Those are vietnam era and newer M47 pattons Main Battle Tanks and an M60 MBT.

Ah, I was fooled by the extreme left one and the bumps at the top front of the turret. On a slightly different note considering your interests have you tried a computer game called "World of Tanks" ? Is a free to play beta that is very fun for a tank buff...not a 100% accurate by any means but still real good. http://www.worldoftanks.com/

I haven't tried that game.

The best tank simulator, and probably best tank game all around would probably be Tiger vs T34. Here are some screen shots I took of some action. I had a thread on this game a few months ago.

You can also be a russian in a t34 and hunt germans, but I'll just post one pic of that.

No, it's not a quart or two low...

Put the oil pump in, filled it with oil (8 gallons), and was within minutes of starting the engine to check for leaks and to retorque everything, only to find a leak before starting. The person we sent the oil pan to never checked the pan for leaks after he patched the hole. So, I'm pretty pissed. If we had a tig setup, or even if I had one myself (will be getting one soon) I could have done the welding myself and would have had it done a month earlier and it would have been done right. Should be sending it out to be welded and hopefully back by Sunday, i'm not holding my breath though.

On a more positive note, there's other things to work on. Things need to be put back in the tank before the engine goes in, so that's what's up for sunday if the engine isn't back.

Well, the engine roared to life today. A combination of camera issues, and trying to check for leaks/problems, prevented me from getting a video. Tomorow it goes in the tank, but it'll be a while before it's driving...lots of stuff to hook up. Will have pics tomorow.

Never seen a dipstick marked out by the gallon before... although a lot of things that come in the door are close in quanity (for just the engine, tranny's are quite a bit more)

It's in and bolted to the mounts now... Took two times to get it right. Had to reset the chains at longer lengths to clear the turret with the forks. But it's in, now on to the easier stuff...putting the small things back in.

A very rare, unique, and awesome sign I got from a collection I bought recently. Good luck finding another one of these...

Drive shaft is bolted up, clutch linkage is reconnected, all engine mounts are bolted up, and one cooling fan gear box is back in. Should have more on friday.

Just came across this thread. Very awesome :headbang:.

I want that engine!!

lol...you've inspired me to dl that game.

Great job on the rebuild man! Keep it up!

I should look for one of those engines to dump in my X!! LMAO!

No updates. Due to heating and water issues in the shop, we shut things down and put everything on hold for a while until it gets warmer. I'll be sure to post updates when we start rolling again. Sorry for the lack of updates, but with so many other issues going on, it was nearly impossible to keep things going and make any sort of progress with the little time I had.

The carbs, both gear boxes, fuel lines, and throttle linkage has been hooked up now. That's about all that's changed since the last picture.
