Been a while

What is a "suicide front axl"
What is a "moon tank"
Damn, this truck has SO much going on, it krazy. I cant wait to see this thing finished, and like Jim, I would like to see it in person.

Well I am back at it...slow going with other summer to do stuff...I am working up my new cross member for the transverse axle...got it mostly hacked out, still have to do a little more shaping and rounding corners...I hate sharp stuff at my age

Can't wait to see this thing done.

Well it has been a while...but I am still picking away at the truck...my house projects have slowed down the progress a lot...did not like the 4 inch dropped axle so I hunted down a genuine Ford 1937 axle and converted from behind spring to over the axle type...it moved the front wheels further out...I have modified this thunderbolt hood scoop to fit the ranger hood by cutting it down and making an enteral lip so it could be bolted down...had to cut and section the scoop to fit the short ranger hood...all most ready for paint

Glad to see you're still going at it. I can't wait to see this thing done!

got the primer coat on today...I will be doing a faux rivet and panel design to hide the bolted and panel bonded scoop part line.......molding on to the alloy hood was not an option due to the flex of the hood and a huge difference in expansion rates

Well I have gotten around to painting the hood...went old school with some thing that was popular in the early 70's...not done yet still have to wet sand to level the art work and then another couple of coats more of clear

Wow...lace painting ! Haven't seen that in years. Along with scallops, lace paint was THE custom paint in the 60's. Are you going to carry the paint theme to any other areas, maybe the tailgate or side panels ?
No such thing as "monochrome" back then...

No ...I am not set up to do any thing but real simple stuff any more...more than half of this job was spray bomb done...and a nail gun compressor to do the clear...not near enough to do it right...but I make due with what is on hand...used to do a lot of paint work back in the day...art work...metal flake..pin striping and leaf stuff...I did wet sand it down today to get the lace buried in the clear... and will add another coat this week

Still, it's nice, and different.
I remember back in the day, custom car shows being held indoors at large venues. Outside, custom painters and pinstripers would set up booths and you could drive your vehicle to the booth and have it custom pinstriped right there.
This was in the era before 3M tape stripes. Back then everything was paint.
Todays paints are so boring, one color, monochrome, no chrome. Grew up in the 50's-60's with the 2 and 3 tone paint schemes from the factory.

still pecking away...had to replace the first front axle due to camber being off and way to much money to ship and have fixed..so I found another $40..plus time to repaint and paint costs...also mounted the hood and going to let the paint harden some more before I finish cutting the paint and pin stripping...it's is amazing how much time you can spend on the little stuff...did a lot of small stuff that you can not see, calipers in... brake lines done...I am thinking I may lower the body down about 2 inch's..sits high due to no engine or trans in yet...I want it to sit level when done
