alright well i took the seats and carpet out of my 86 ranger i just bought. I was planning on putting down the roll-on bedliner for the floor. Then I find this roofing crap uner the carpet! ice&water shield?:icon_confused: its tarred to the floor pretty much. I started taking it off with a heat gun and putty knife. After an hour and about 1/4 of it out it got dark i decided to call it quits for tonight. Also i find under this tar that there are small rusted holes in the floor! greatt :temper:

I mean what was he thinking! i know times are tough but roofing haha

haha yeah my hands are covered in that tar shit but its finally all out! turns out the guy put in a couple piece to replace some of the rusted out floor already.BONDO EVERYWHEREEEEE! ill get some pictures up later.

Forget times being tough, I just dont think he knew what he was doing...Thats a shame man, you've got alot to clean up!

Thats the best part though right? You're fixing it up right!

well, after you get new floor panels welded in, then i highly recommend bed liner on the floors. on my '83, i had it done professionally, letting them do the bed, outside rockers, and the entire cab floor. was well worth the cost as it looks so good and in the color i wanted. no complaints. i did my old geo tracker myself with herculiner and it did fine as well. if you have the funds, i would recommend putting down sound deadening material (dynamat, rattle trap, etc.) before the bed liner. helps with outside noise and heating/cooling. just my $.02.

So you just bedlined on top of it? That seems weird. Did it work good? How hot/cold does it get with the bedliner as opposed to having carpet?

ya i have really been thinking about bed lining the floor of my bronco, keep us posted as to what you do and how it looks.

soundproofing under the bedliner? i find that wierd but if it works sweet. Well first i have to cut out and patch up those rust holes then i will put on the bedliner. might take longer but the fun is finding whats wrong and fixing it up!:icon_thumby:

how big are the holes? do you have pics of it?

yeah ill have some up tonight for ya.

you can put anything over the sound deadner. i have carpet glued over it behind the seat and will be doing the same to the roof. all the bed liner needs is a smooth, non-shiny surface. just a little scuffing on the metallic side should give it enough roughness. or put some adhesion promoter on top of it to help the bed liner stick really good.
other option is to put the sound deadener over the bed liner. usually the bed liner is so rough, you can't get nearly as good a seal when installing the deadener over the top of it. however, if you have them leave out the little granules, the bed liner will go on quite smooth and that might be fine. and i finished my floor by putting carpeting over the bed liner.
it's quieter for sure, and not near so cold on the floor on those -20 to -30 mornings!

Don't do it, If you pull up all that crap and clean it up and then put the roll on liner it will get very hot and loud. in thew cab, a buddy of mine did it and now he is putting the insulater on top and the rubber mat thing it looked cool but it sucked.
