Yesterday my battery was completely dead and no electricals were left on. I was able to get a jump, and it started up after a few minutes of charging.
When driving on the freeway, the voltage indicator would increase and the battery light came on. For the 20 minute drive the voltage needle was pegged high in the red and the battery light was on. Got off the freeway, took it out of gear and let off the gas, voltage needle dropped to slightly below half and battery light went off. When I would give it some gas the needle would rise, when I let off the gas and the rpms got low enough, the needle would drop. It would do this in gear and in neutral. This morning the battery was completely dead again.
I did some searching and found some people having similar situations. Most pointed to the alternator, some said only the brushes or the voltage regulator. I will begin taking the alternator out soon and having it tested and checking out the brushes. The battery is new back in April.
Anyone ever had this problem?
