need help.

this is really long, and i understand if you don't want to read it... but this is all on a college campus, just so you understand the setting and what not

okay so there was a guy talkin trash on my friend stealing some of his stuff and i tell my friend what i know. he confronts the guy, non confrontational, but nothing really gets settled. so i'm sleeping, 4:30AM on sunday and he, drunk and come to find out later may have even been on something, kicks my door in and is like F YOU, YOU DONT KNOW HOW BAD I WANT TO KILL YOU like all sorts of stuff, and he grabs me by the neck, i like throw him off, and my next door neighbor gets him out of my room... i go down to the friends room and am talking with 2 other guys and that friend and he kicks in that door now too, goes to do the same thing... we end up basically fighting or whatever, no punches i'm just trying to get him to stop, and my friends pull me back or whatever and i call the cops.

he hears me calling the cops and so he goes and like hides so he wont get caught. the cops don't find him but me and my friends all fill out witness reports, and i go to turn them in later that day (sunday) and my tire is slashed and both of my door handles on my truck are broken....... he claims innocence, but that's QUITE the coincidence.

anyway, the cops came back last night at like 1030 and arrest him for battery, and he comes back to the dorm after like 30 min. he has a court date jan 5, i assume it's just a plea trial??? i have no clue. anyway, basically our head coach isn't doing anything (he is a football player), which i think is bull but that's beside the point... but the school may kick him out.

so, basically do i continue with the battery charges? do i let that get put on his record for years, or his life? idk how long it stays on there. but like that shows up for grad school apps, job apps, etc... like it could ruin his opportunities so many places.

or do i not press charges? i'm really stuck on what do i do as a christian too....

the thing that makes me want to press charges is he made a conscience effort TWICE to come and assault me... he could have stopped, and he didn't. "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me"...

i just really don't know i guess

and with my truck, the cops said that if he didn't confess to it (which he didn't) that they can't charge him. but two of my friends saw him in the parking lot i was parked in later that day (sunday) and he has motive... didn't know if you had any insight on that

so.. any help would be great i guess

Yep, nail him. Too often people like get that a free ride cause no one wants to press charges, and it only gives them a sense of invincibility. If it were me, I'd stick every charge I could to him, because as you mentioned he made two deliberate attempts to come after you, and trashed your truck.
As far as the truck comes, maybe you can take him to small claims court?

Charge him and tell him that if he confesses to the truck stuff you'll drop the assault charge, then get him to pay for fixing your truck!

Your grammar sucks.

Press the charges. He has broken the law and has physically assaulted you. The Bible says "'Vengeance is Mine' sayeth The Lord," but it also says that we are to submit to the laws of our nation if they do not contradict His Word and that even though we may receive eternal forgiveness through The Blood our actions in this life still have worldly consequences.

Also, bear in mind, that under the Torah you'd have the right to cut off both his hands if not to take his life for his actions against you. Consider a jail sentence and permanent mark on his record to be getting off easy.

tell him to confess to slashing your tires and braking your handles and pay for the damages, if not then charge him for battery. i think he'll opt for the first one. if he does, id suggest getting those fancy new top of the line performance tires, with the road hazard warantee. and dont forget the full size spare! but yes what i said first is what i would do..

Press every charge you can against the SOB. You are well within your rights to do so. The most important thing you can do here is tell the truth.

Also, don't expect to get any help from the cops. Sorry but they are just about worthless in situations like this (speaking from experience.)

you could also apply for a restraining order against him and that should keep him away from you and your truck, hopefully.
but i'd give him the chance to make full monetary restitution for the truck repairs, in cash, in advance before agreeing to drop the battery/assault charges.
good luck with this.

Press charges. To make yourself feel better about the whole situation, imagine what kind of shape that guy would be in had he assaulted someone who is trained? Poor guy would be much better off with some charges than lasting injuries that never heal right.

Plus, he messed with your truck.

Sounds like a violent angry person with alcohol probems among other things. It could very well have escalated to tragedy. Whatever he used to slash your tires could very well have been used to spill your guts or slash your throat, it's happened plenty of times at schools across the nation. This person has three strikes with you, 2 assaults and property destruction, both yours and the schools. Guarantee if he gets away with it he will be laughing like a school girl and go on to victimize or kill someone else at the rate he is going.

He needs to face the consequences for his actions. What if you don't press charges against him and then lah dee dah, sometime in the future he flips out on someone else and kills them. How would you feel then?

Charge That asshole. he attacked you and messed with your truck,:nono:

You're damn f*ckin right! Charge the hell out of him... If you're stuck on trying to think of what the Christian thing to do is... then ask yourself was what he did a Christian thing to do? I don't think so...

Follow through with the charges... and also get the police to fingerprint the door handles and a 3x3 square around them... you never know what he touched or what he used to break them.

Also, don't expect to get any help from the cops. Sorry but they are just about worthless in situations like this (speaking from experience.)

This is also true, especially with Omaha police... with all the uh... certain people... shooting each other in Omaha, they have bigger fish to fry.

thanks for all the advice guys, just wanted some advice outside of the situation.

just to clear some things up

1) i don't care if my grammar sucks, it was coherent enough for you to understand it, and you still gave your opinion, so it wasn't bad enough for you not to give your opinion. this is a forum, not a comp class

2) i'm actually not in omaha for college... but i agree with the omaha statement

3) the cops can't do anything about the truck because there weren't any witnesses and he didn't confess to it

4) $103 for a new tire, they tried patching the old one and it still leaked

5) i already tried getting him to pay for my truck and he refused... his loss, now he'll have a criminal record

6) about the whole christian comment, just because he didn't do a christian thing doesn't mean it's okay for me to do whatever i want.
