2.3L ('02-'11) swapping intakes on the 2.3 to get rid of swirl plates

I have successfully swapped an 04 intake on my 03 also updated the thermostat housing to remove the heater. Any questions feel free to ask.

Please tell me more! I am having a super hard time finding a replacement for my 2001 2.3L. This seems to be a common problem. The 2004-2011 intakes are dime a dozen in junkyards. What did you need to do? Which extra vacuum lines/inputs did you need to plug?

I'm currently running an 04 intake on my 03 b2300. You do have to modify it some for all the vacuum lines to be hooked up correctly. But it's fairly easy. Otherwise I also modded the 03 intake by removing the the runner valve from it, and sealed up the areas where the rod passes thru in between the intake ports and on the ends. Then just leave the vacuum switch connected that's on the back bottom of the intake along with the vacuum actuator for the imrc and it will trick the PCM to think it's still active. Of course all your vacuum connections need to be connected as well. I'll upload some pictures of my 03 intake and explain a little more with the pictures how I did the mod. Also put some of the 04 intake mod to work with the 03 vacuum config.

That would be awesome to see some photos! I would be putting a 04-11 intake on my 2021 2.3L

04 intake on a 2021 may not work. I'm not to familiar with the newer style intakes, so I can't say for certain if it will or will not work. But I'll still go ahead and post the pictures of the stuff that I did. It may help as a general reference.

These are pictures of the 2003 intake with the imrc removed. Then all I did was seal off the individual intake ports with a plastic welder which you can pick up at harbor freight for relatively cheap. Also JB weld will work.

Well I see the pictures didn't upload so I'm not too sure what's up with that I'll have to see if I can get it figured out and try to repost them.

Oops typo lol. I’m trying to put it on my 2001. Not 2021

Okay yeah then this would definitely apply. Like I said I'll try to get the photos up as soon as I can I did send a message to forum to see if they possibly knew why the photos are blacked out.
Perfect, much appreciated! As soon as an intake comes available I’ll be grabbing it. How long did you drive with the noise? Should I park the truck until I fix it or is it not that urgent?

I actually pulled mine out shortly after I started hearing it. As far as driveabilities concerned it shouldn't really affect anything or hurt the engine per se it is going to affect your fuel economy probably throttle response all that stuff. If you're needing an intake I do have my 03 intake I would be willing to sell that. Cuz I know they are pretty hard to find.

I’ll send you a message!

Edit: can you send me a DM? I’m not sure how to do it on here since I’m currently using my phone.

I'm not sure myself. Just looked all over on here and couldn't find it. Here's my email, *redacted*. Just shoot me a message there.

So close yet so far… pretty sure the minimum post count for DMs is 10 because we were getting too many spammers blasting out messages. Might also apply to pics or there might be something else going on there, not sure on that one.
