Baby Blue Beauty Build Thread


So photobucket dosnt like my video camera so the vids I took went on facebook and not TRS, which is lame, next time I go wheeling ill get some pics.

Another thing, I found an exploder 8.8 with 5.13 yukon gears and the spring plates already flipped for 175, so I may buy it next week

Whelp, basically after hours of work I had the knuckle off and couldn't get the BJ's pressed out, and I had to go to work, so today I dropped off that knuckle to have the old ones pressed out, and the new one pressed in. So after its all back together I still have to do the other side, so I'm just gunna take it to the shop and have em' do the other side and align it. Lesson learned, I'm not doing ball joints ever again.
 
I started putting it all back together, it was all going great until one of the studs on the knuckle that holds on the spindle sheared off at like 50 ft/lbs, the torque specs say go to 80, Im guessing it got a burr in it. Anyways I went to multiple parts stores and the dealer and no one can get me a new stud so on Saturday Im going to the yard to get pull a knuckle and pop a stud out of it.

Also I decided I am going to do the other side myself as well, I think I can cut my time in half and still save some money, ill still have the tire shop press in th BJ's
 
So SAS is back on the table, THIS is the thread where I have been asking questions



Also I will be finishing both sides of the Balljoints on saturday
 
My truck is really close to being back together, but the stupid replacement axleshaft seal I bought won't fit right so I have to take it apart again.....I'm really getting pissed at this point

BTW a 32x10.5in tire on a 1in wide wheel vs. an 8in wide, the 8in is the one that isnt connected to the truck

The spare is about 1.5in taller...hence why I want 8in wide wheels

Oh and I guessed on the alignment pretty well, it runs strait on the road, Ill get it aligned next week
 
Went wheeling today at the local mud pits, didn't realize 4wd wasn't working till I was really stuck, and my buddy was stuck at the same time, so I had to get unstuck in 2wd, I think I must have just installed something wrong in the front end, because I don't think I blew a jeep hub with only 32s.

Also I decided not to SAS, its just not financially smart right now, I have to start saving money for school and get this puppy paid off.

So im going to build the current suspension a bit.
jeep coils, 2 or 3in drops f250 shock mounts, stone crusher arms, exploder leafs and mebbe an 8.8.
Then some 33's, and maybe some lockers

Water came in the door when I tried to open it in this one, and don't worry I was moving at 1 mph when I went in and the engine was running the whole time.

Oh and this whole time I was purposely getting stuck to test the limitations of my truck on a closed course with a buddy close to home. That way I know what I can make it through when I'm up in the mountains.
