Anyone know the size of the rear 2 body bolts that go through the rear sill/mounts into the frame?

Finally going to get the ass end on mine fixed this weekend and i doubt the factory bolts are going to survive.

Are they readily available at a hardware store? Or are they more speciality? I figure a grade 8 should work fine.

Thanks

They're likely metric...

12mm x 1.50 is my guess.

They were metric in my truck.

Thats what im afraid of.

The guy helping me (hes good at welding/fab/etc) says it pry wont be as bad as i think. But we'll see.

First he said 18 hrs, then yesterday he said what i just typed above....hes one of those kind its hard to tell when hes serious or sarcastic. But either way it needs done.

The rear sill is literally falling down around the mounts. We are gonna remove the mounts and cut out the bottom of the sill, hopefully slide a piece of 2x4 rectangle tubing underneath the sill, and then build up from there.

Im excited though, kinda the last big puzzle piece to getting this thing road worthy. After this i just gotta finish the brakes (rear shoes/wheel cyls/bleed) and figure out the turn signal/brake light issue.

It gives me a good feeling to save this old stuff from the crusher.

I've got a box of body mount bolts for my 84 from James Duff.

My Choptop I bought body bolts and poly bushings plus a 2” body lift from James Duff… they were grade 5 SAE

I bought grade 5 SAE bolts from the hardware store (TSC or RK) for my 88. Picked up poly bushings and a 1” body lift for that from somewhere.

I don’t remember the size of the bolts though

I want to say back when I did the Choptop, the bolts came with the body lift I bought and I needed new bushings and to repair some body mounts and that was the cheapest solution at the time. I don’t know that I’d want a 3” body lift unless I have to, but the 2” provided a bunch of access to things and made working on it easier. I never really wanted to body lift if I could help it, but access is nice. So that’s where I got the idea of doing a 1” body lift on my 88. That one didn’t come with anything but the pucks. I just went around and measured what I needed for bolts and figured it out.

You may want to consider getting a new fuel tank. I have two tanks now that developed a leak at the top of the tank from age, rust, and wear. If you don’t get a new tank, I’d clean it off and paint it or something to try and keep it from leaking. I had to cut most of the bolts for the skid plate and tank straps, so be prepared for that too.
