Axle question: Dana 30 swap?

Looking through the local classified this morning there is an Ad in there for a Dana 30 with 4.10's (same gearing as my ranger) and its out of a 1967 Bronco. Good axle? Bad axle? Not compatible due to location of pinion? Any clue as to what something like this is worth? Not worth the aggrivation to swap into my truck to remove the D28/35 hybrid that my truck has? I'm unsure if this is a front of rear axle however. Their asking price is reasonable IMO, this is why I'm researching.

i had one in my 84 when my 28 broke. i never broke it, but i never tried to test its limits either,. i had a 302 in mine too. you have to do some fabricating and welding to put it in there though. personally id stay with the 35 if thats what youhave now. they really arent that bad if you dont push it. i have a 94 now with a 331 stroker and a stock 35 up front

IIRC, most of those Dana 30s were drum brake. I believe that there are a few companies that make the disk conversion for them. But practically, if you are going to the trouble of a SAS, I would go with at least the D44. I believe the 76', and 77' had the D44 option.

Well, from what i searched, all i saw were drum brake front ends. Converting to disc was my only concern, so i don't think i'll bother even calling about this axle. I have the 28/35 hybrid, not a 35.
