First off my front end was clunking in 4x4 low and high. I finally found out why.

the bearing inside the spindle/knuckle that supports the passenger side axle shaft is gone..... it no longer exist.

So, the question is to get that shaft out to replace the bearing don't I need to pull the knuckle which means pushing out the ball joints. And when I do this can I reuse the ball joints if Im really nice to them.... (they are fairly new BTW)

also if I mark the alignment cam on the top one, can I just put it back on the same why it came off to avoid getting an alignment right away? (I will eventually be getting the alignment done in Aug when I get new tires so dont worry)

I also cracked my drivers side 6" drop bracket so I will be beefing that thing up as well when I have the front apart. LOL sounds like fun huh?:icon_welder:

anyway if anyone can help me out with these questions, it would be great:beer:

sweet, Ive done it on a F-250 and thats how it was just take off the spindle.

is it pressed in there?

and I was gonna do those U-joints on the axle while I had it apart, so Im thinking I need to pull the knuckles anyway.

so the ball joint question still stands. LOL I could really use a shop manual!

and those u-joint caps are held in by snap rings on the inside right?

BTW thanks for the quick response Hahnsb2!

The spindle is just bolted on. The shafts will pull out with knuckles still in place but to do the middle U-joint the pig needs to be pulled because that shaft is held in with an E-clip.

ya I am just going to do the outer u joints..... I don't feel like playing with the diff if i don't need to, the inners are still in good shape.

thanks again:beer:
