I bought set and i have to say, I'm very pleased. They work great and they installed in minutes. No more wondering wether or not 4x4 is actually working. If you have a 98-00, it's worth the $100ish.

Got any pics showing them installed?

No, but i do have a few crappy pics of me testing them. I'll take a few pics when i get a chance.

where'd you get them from?

I got them for like 99 on ebay as well. Did it come with everything you need or is that spacer type kit posted on the forum sticky needed?

Hey can any of you guys tell me exactly how you install these AVM hubs? I want to buy a pair but I want to know what is involved with the install first. Do they slide inside the plastic sleeve that holds the vacuum crap now? What holds them in?:dunno:

They come with everything you need, and they just snap onto the hubs like the factory ones, you could even leave the wheels on. You just pop the old ones off with a screwdriver, hurl them into your neighbors backyard, slide the new ones on, and seat them with a rubber mallet.

So thats where those hubs came from...:icon_twisted:

The 1999 Ranger I own that my fiancee drives still has the stock PVH hubs. It has 102K miles on it and they still work fine.

I am crossing my fingers, cause if I have to throw mine into either of my neighbors yards, I can guarantee they will have NO idea of what they are, and not see if as very funny.

To be honest, the PVH hubs themselves rarely let go. It's either the oring, axleshaft seal, or vacuum lines that fail. Then the hubs go bad.

Ok my Uncle is trying to convince me that these torsion bar suspension trucks don't have hubs, that they have two front half shafts that are powered by a motor on the front differential............and I know he USED to be a mechanic..but you guys know your stuff probably more than he was (I don't think he really worked on Fords), how far off is he? I told him I was thinking of converting mine to two manual hubs and he said that I don't even have hubs.

Every company is different. He is right in some sense. Fullsize Chevy's and F150s use a center axle disconnect. However, 00+ Rangers are a fulltime system (the hubs are always locked in) where the front drivetrain is spinning all the time. 98-00 Rangers used vacuum hub lockouts to disengage the front drivetrain.

He doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to Rangers.

Ok, I'll let him know that it IS a vacuum system. Thanks!!

Ok here's what I did, I jacked up the front of the Ranger so the tires were off the ground and I spun the front drive shaft....the tires didn't spin. The front axle's were spinning but not the tires. Hubs???
