Automotive technology you miss.

Horse team and harnesses?

Yeah, me neither, but that looked like where the thread was heading. :D

I still don't think I fit in here too well. I'm an old fart, but I like the modern conveniences for the most part. Sure, I think a lot of it is overdone and could be simplified, but I also think a lot of it is better than the old ways.

FWIW, I can adjust a carb, set the timing advance, set the dwell and gap the points, I just prefer not to have to. Cables on vents break just like vacuum hoses leak. I guess I'm just lazy, I like setting the temp and not having to screw with it every time I go from bright sun to clouds and rain on a trip.

I wouldn't mind the window vents making a comeback though.

I miss the days when you could drive around with a stiff manhattan in one hand, smoking a cigarette in the other while your kids crawl around in the back with no seatbelts...

People were just tougher back then. Because if you weren't you didn't live long, the way nature is suppose to work.
Chlorenation of the gene pool i believe is the terminolgy.

I thought it was called "melenials"?

Driving this morning I realized I also miss big insanely obnoxiously loud horns...

Never saw UV Rays destroying those dashes.

And even if they did you could throw one of those cheap carpet dash covers on and it still looked good

Agreed.

and if you had to have a automatic, have a lever, not some stupid knob. I too prefer twin I-beam, carbs, real distributors, engine mounted fuel pumps, floor dimmer switches, creeper 1st manuals, window vents, radios that werent overly complicated, I hate doors that lock automatically and auto headlights, I dont even. like power locks. keyed ignitions, I still have the old-school setup but Ive seen the new fob thing and what a joke. Hate low-profile tires, esp in winter when you may want to run a narrow tire. there are none.

I am glad they got away from wooden spoked wheels and all those mysterious levers in the center of the steering wheel for manual timing adjustment or whatever that stuff was for.

But with levers you know the computer isn’t going to mess it up, you have more control of the vehicle.

And with the wood spoke wheels you can just replace the bad one instead of throwing away a whole wheel.

:ROFLMAO:
