I know folks have stacked manuals to manuals before but I am curious about stacking an auto to a manual. I am asking for two reasons one. I have a PRV 2.8l engine and AW71 auto sitting in my garage from my volvo hot rodding days. The engine in mild tune puts out 176 hp and 150ftlbs torque and does that with better mileage (not that it would stay the same in this application) and it would give me a ton more gear options than an simple doubler (not that a doubler is simple to do but it's simple in function) Just curious if anyone had experience with this and or thoughts about it.

thx

You would have to use an all mechanical auto, and even then it might cause some odd operation.

I'm curious as to why it would need to be all mechanical, and I'm assuming you mean manual valve body? My intention would be to leave the manual trans in just one gear and letting the auto do it's thing.

I'm studying the coupler right now. I have a clutch disk and the drive shaft. I'm trying to figure out how to minimize the lenght.

No, I mean mechanical as in not electronic. No computer telling it when to shift just springs and fluid pressure. I imagine an electronic controlled trans would get quite confused with that kind of reduction in final drive ratio.

Oh yeah definitely not computer controlled. So has anyone done this? I can't imagine that I am the first so hopefully some one has and has feedback.

didn't stranger have a C6 mated to a creeper 4spd with 5 or 6 transfer cases?

Do you have a link to his user profile. There are a shit ton of members with Stranger in their name. I'd really like to talk to that person.

Thanks

NVM figured it out. He's now Gwaii I am looking at his thread.
