Ok this might be a little odd. I'm thinking of getting a truck that needs a transmission, it's an 89 with a 2.9 auto 4x4. Good news is I have a transmission but it's a manual from an 88 with a 2.9 2wd (M50D I think). I have flywheel, clutch, pedals, computer, donor 2wd truck actually. Question is, what do I need to make this swap work? I know the tail of the 2wd differs from the 4x4 but will this part from the auto transmission work? Has this been done? Can I buy this part separately? Any input would be great. Thanks guys!

you can buy the output shaft from a trans builder or junkyard for the 5 speed also an extension housing. when I swapped a 5 speed into my 88 from a 90 donor the clutch pedal assembly was a little different. I had to take them both apart and modify the clutch pedal to fit in my 88's assembly. not a major problem with a little extra time
