hey guys, i just read further into my aussie locker, and its for an open diff and mine is a LS. whats the best/easiest thing to do to get my locker installed?

buy a new carrier and stuff from an open 8.8? but then does someone have to set it up?

or just sell the aussie locker and buy one for an LS? i couldn't find a LS 8.8 locker on aussies website either..

just for reference for other ppl.

i called a shop and if i bring them the axle (out of the truck) the new carrier and locker, they will install it for 300, gear oil included.

called a auto salvage yard in flagstaff, and they quoted me 159 bucks for a open 4.10 carrier outta a 8.8. also needed a driveshaft flange for the 8.8 so i can use my driveshaft, quoted me 79 bucks

different yard, same part, 20 bucks. only difference is i pull the carrier on the cheap carrier. they also quoted me for the driveshaft flange, 25 bucks.

guess it pays to price shop!

aussie needs an open to fit 8.8 with a 4.10 is rare probably don't have one that ratio. If you can get a whole rear end do that you have to take it out to have it set up anyway.

If it were mine and you gotta change the carrier anyway, I'd drop a Detroit Locker in it. Much stronger, and eliminates the 8.8's weakest link (the stock carrier).

i think you misread my post or i didn't write it correctly. the junk yard has an open 8.8 with a 4.10. or so they say, of course i'd like this! but my front is 3.73, and 4.10's are kinda pricey. not to mention i haven't come to a conclusion on what i want to do with the front, SAS, dana 35, cut and turned, etc.

but it is kinda cheap with you look at it with the 4.10's... could turn around and sell those here maybe to keep the cost down?

4x4junkie--
i would just get the detroit, cept for there price, plus i'd have to sell the aussie. tho i'll look into that idea some more now..
