ATV plow

I've been using my fathers snow blower for the past decade (he's partially handicapped and had a neighbor plow their driveway). My parents moved and he wanted his snow blower back. After 10 years isn't it mine? I was then using a little single stage Honda that my neighbor gave me that didn't work. It does now. The problem is that I just had knee AND shoulder surgery and can't plow the driveway and the little Honda is just to hard for my wife to use. I noticed that Cabela's was selling Warn plows in the bargain cave (Online) for a very inexpensive price. I talked my dad into getting one so he doesn't have to try to wrestle a snow blower. I told my wife and she asked why we don't get one. It's much cheaper than a snowblower and she can plow the driveway when I'm away at work. I very excited to get it. I think plowing will now be fun and less a chore. Received the mounting bracket in the mail yesterday and the rest should be here today or tomorrow. I just hope my shoulder is in good enough shape to mount the bracketry.

Dad's got a Suzuki King Quad, the older 300cc model with 3 gear ranges and factory front locker. He has a plow on that, and he thinks it works great.

I'm putting mine on a Polaris 800. It should have enough power. I'm only getting a 48" plow.

I too have a Honda 400 cc's with a 48 "plow and its function has this wonderful thing I had not strength is the atv he does for me

I have one too, on a Suzuki Eiger 400, it does great for being a smaller atv. Do you have a winch to raise and lower it?

Yes. Unfortunatly I got the winch a couple of years ago from my wife and I just haven't gotten around to mounting it. I guess no time like the present. The problem is that the ATV is here at the house and the winch is up north at the cabin............damn! Looks like it's time for a trip up north. Again the problem I don't know if my shoulder will allow me to mount the winch. Shouldn't be a problem.

Ya i could imagine the winch isn't real light and would require two hands for sure.

the winches for those are only 1500#-2000# rated and weigh less than 25# usually. i have a winch and plow on my old Honcho. constant 4x4, chain drive, 399cc Kaw motor, fwd and rev only, real big turning radius. but it beats pushing the snow blower around taking 3x longer.

with you having a bad shoulder, i would ask a neighbor or any neighborhood kids to help you do the rough work. im sure any kid looking for money will take an hour or so to make $20 or so

Problem with that is all my neighbor kids are 12 or younger. The good part is that my neighbors know my disability and are willing to blow off the driveway while I convalesce.

darn! well with kids still that young means they cant be too old. toss $20 to an eager parent. and theyll probably refuse the money anyways win win situation!

I've been plowing my driveway with a Yamaha Timberwolf 250 (actually, its a 230, but they call it a 250) for years now. Full-time 4x4, clutchless 5 spd, 48" blade, manual angle. I can plow about an 18-20" snowfall (light powdery snow) in one pass, or around 12" of heavy wet snow.

The best things I got for it:

Heated hand grips!!! --They are great when your out plowing for a few hours!! or just playing

Electric winch -- If you have to lift and lower the blade a lot, GET ONE! (my driveway has a bunch of parking spots off to the side, so im lifting and lowering all the time.)

Battery tender -- You dont want to go fire the quad up and find a dead battery.

Remember: Plowing beats up on the vehicle. Maintenance becomes more important.
-Change/check your oil more often.
-Wax your plow blade. This serves 2 purposes, keeps it from rusting and keeps the snow from sticking/ building up.
-Tires are the only thing that touches the ground, replace them before they go bald ( I worked at an ATV shop for a few years, you shoulda see what people will run on)
