Memorial Day is just over a week away.I used to think of this day as a paid holiday from work, barbeque, and alcohol, but i see it differently now.I would like to mention some names of men i served with that this day belongs to:

SFC Stanciel;SGT Fernandez;PFC Setzler;SGT Scatliffe of OIF
These men died serving, and if anyone else served with,or was friends, with or knew anyone,if you would add their names to this thread to honor them and never forget them and what they did.

This is a great thread this year, as have threads every year been on TRS.

I would like to include the men who I served with who were killed in Nam...

but .............I have amnesia and can't remember their names...

I also want to acknowledge the men who have died after the war because of grief or suicide (normally I would have not acknowledged those who killed themselves, but...now I understand them) and those that I see when I have to go to the V.A. Hospital...those men who don't have much time left because of Agent Orange...

And to the soldiers who are yet to give everything in the Middle East.....

Jesus...have mercy on the memorial Day Soldiers...take them to a place where there is no more war.

your right Doorgunner, their have been more troops commit suicide than have died in iraq and afghanistan war,its really sad that their isnt enough help sources for the number of troops coming back with ptsd,i begged for help when i came back and failed due to the numbers with this illness

I second this post my father in law still has problems, and my fiance is becoming a social worker because of it. I support her and him and all the soldiers fully as much as I can. I work at a college and I try my best to get them situated and working towards a better life.

thank you for your support, something Vietnam Vets didnt have when they came home, lets not forget the families of The Fallen they suffer a great loss as well

There was 25 men or women that paid the ultimate price defending their country while was deployed. I was part of the detail that insured they made it house to their families.

Sent from the front seat of my Ranger while sitting in traffic.

Good points...

Let us also pray for the families and friends of those who served whether they made it home or not...the ones who make it home have to live with the horror for the rest of their lives and their families feel the effects of this trauma.

Lord may those who died rest in peace and those that survived to make it home let them find peace in their lives and comfort them with your Mercy, Love, and Blessings.

I served but can be thankful no members of my battalion fell due to enemy fire. My best friend served with me and now has ptsd. Thanks for all the support, I see alot of people on here giving props to soldiers and it doesn't go unnoticed.

I want to say THANK YOU to all the vets and deployed for serving. No matter what war, forign or domestic!

I too would like to say "THANK YOU" to all of you who served or are serving. I am very grateful to live in this Country, the finest nation on the planet.

I had a great uncle who was killed (hostile) in Vietnam on October 28, 1966 (9 years before I was born). He was a Private First Class, and only 20 years old.

thank you for the recognition, very greatful for the support, this is to remember the troops who died in combat though,Memorial Day is a day for remembrance for them, not us vets,i dont meen to sound like a smart A##,if it came out like that. For some reason they are heavy on my mind,i guess i have too much time to think,IDK.I was raised to be humble, and be respectful, too much pride can ruin a good man,no matter what he does in life

I still carry my Vietnam era draft card in my wallet in deference to them. However I'm not 'fit' for service because of lifelong asthma...and I'll NEVER forgive the Lord for that!:shok:

Though there were no parades like today, the Vietnam Vets were all welcomed home in these parts with open arms! I have one in my family and several veterans of the various gulf conflicts....

One uncle served in the WWII, Korea AND 2 tours in Vietnam! Purple, silver, bronze...and more. I never knew all this until he died!

ON my mother's side.....uncles...1 Army, 3 Navy and 1 Marine

My dad served in the Army Air Corp and transitioned to Air Force in '47. 8 years total. 2 brothers Navy and 1 Army.

Brother Inlaw...Marine...his daughter a Marine and married a Marine.

Brother Inlaw's brother Vietnam Vet....Chief of Police in nearby community now.

Brother...Army...Crew Chief on a Blackhawk in Desert Storm/Shield. Reserves/National Guard

Neice 3 tours in Iraq.

Nephew 3 tours in Iraq...documented he actually drove the first Abrams over the Euphrates during the invasion of Baghdad! Officers candidate school..

Everyone I know that served came home safe...but a better person for the experience!

My Father was the most moral man I've ever known.

I am still humbled by the Flag waving in the wind. The Star Spangled Banner. God Bless America....and all the memories of common people doing great things to insure that you and I can sit here in comfort!

Thanks!.....:clapping:
