Alright everyone I’ve got a few questions.
Does anyone know which pressure is higher the auto trans lines running through the radiator or the cooling system itself?
Background: I recently rebuilt my 5R55E auto trans with a complete kit, new torque converter ect. After the rebuild the I developed a leak maybe a week after. It leaks from the bell housing which leaves a 3-4 inch dia. puddle under the truck if I park level or down hill. Now, I replaced the front seal while I was in there so I (hope) don’t think it’s the seal, but my luck it is the seal and I’ll have to pull the whole trans again. Another odd thing is even though the truck leaks ATF the tranny fluid level has been a little above full the entire time and its been about 3 months now. Today I noticed a little drop of coolant mixed in with the ATF leaking out so I’m wondering if there is a possible leak in the radiator and if the cooling system pressure is more its filling my tranny with coolant. Now I haven’t noticed any foam, or discoloration on the dipstick. Luckily I installed a drain plug in tranny pan while I was in there last time so hopefully tomorrow I’ll pull the plug and see if there is coolant mixed with the ATF. Has anyone had issues like this? Any info would be great.
Thanks
