I need an topic for an college english class an argument paper and it has to be auto related because of my major thanks
 
I can't help you with the topic, however i hope you are more aware of your spelling, grammar, and punctuation when you're writing college papers than you are on here.
 
i used my ipad and typing fast didn't help i just need some ideas such as DOHC vs Pushrod but that would be to difficult for the professor

An easy one would be if the up front cost of hybrids is cheaper than buying a cheap & efficient gas powered car.

or diesel vs gas efficiency, which is more "green"

or are hybrids really "greener" than normal cars when they require mining of rare earth metals.

do gps navigation or automatic parallel parking features make us worse (incapable) drivers?

should everyone know how to change a tire, check oil, change oil?

there are a million automotive rants that can be turned into decent argumentative english papers.
 
Here's an easy one: Ford vs. Chevy

Or, for IT majors: AMD vs. Intel

For bicycle geeks: Shimano vs. Campagnolo

For audiophiles: Digital vs. Analog

A good one from the 70's: Betamax vs. VHS

Joe on the street: Coke vs. Pepsi, or McDonalds vs. Burger King

However, bear in mind that the conclusion to all of these comparisons can be boiled down to: "There's not a lot of difference, and you get what you pay for." If someone truly had a superior product, everyone would support that, and the inferior competition would quickly disappear.

Now you just have to fluff that out into a full-length paper. :D

In Europe diesel cars account for roughly fifty percent of the car market in the U.S. 3.8 percent of cars made or imported are diesel. While gasoline engines are only capable of converting thirty percent of fuel energy diesels can convert forty five percent or more has more fuel efficiency and power. In the case of a diesel engine it all about low end torque that you fell when you drive. For example a pre-1996 Ford Mustang GT with the 5.0 302 cubic inch motor with a pushrod design and is a real torque monster! The design has some ways comparable to diesel. When you drive a diesel, it is like driving a big V8 muscle car with lots of low end power with excellent gas mileage. The best parts about diesels are the fact that they can last an easy million miles with any major overhauling. The reason is diesel fuel is less refined and heavier and it is almost oil. This certainly lubricates the upper cylinder. This is something gasoline is not able to perform. Gasoline cars are out of breath at 200,000 miles. When you see an upper cylinder lubricants at an auto store do not hesitate to give it a try. So why do the Europeans have little sixty five mile per gallon mini cars and the United States still uses crude oil instead of biodiesel?
However, there are some pitfalls to diesel engines that limit its acceptance in the U.S. Mainly (Webster)the price of diesel compared to gas historically diesel fuel was far cheaper. Now it is considerably much more causing issues when people are looking at car purchases. . A real hot issue is, emission diesels are infamous for NOx and soot deposits, causing GASP (Group against Soot and Pollution) to start a anti diesel campaign. Diesel exhaust fumes can cause health issues such as an increased risk of lung cancer and short term exposure can cause skin irritation and coughing. The high cost of building a diesel is the biggest reason why the diesel car movement has come to a stop. One of the problems is the diesel engines have to be extremely strong. ..The motor does not use spark plugs. The motor uses glow plugs and massive amounts of compression to ignite the fuel. Your average gasoline motor is 9.0.1 compression while your average diesel motor is 20.0.1. This means the diesel motor has to withstand that strong of a combustion without exploding. There is a down side to this is situation. When going to an auto parts store, you will find that diesel exclusive parts are extremely expensive. However, the reliability is twice that of a gas engine. When money becomes a problem that creates an unhelpful situation that sadly ends in the car or engine dying in a junkyard, causing junkyards to be full of old diesel Volvos’, Saabs’, and Bmws’.
A true solution for diesel to be accepted in the U.S. is in the fuel itself. It should be partly bio diesel to help reduce costs. The car manufactures should import some of their European counter parts diesel eco cars. A great example is Ford Motor Company. Ford is a updating global company for many years. For instance when they produce a car in Europe, For will try to produce the same car in the U.S. The Ford Fiesta is a terrific car for the gas mileage. At seventy miles per gallon with low diesel it would sell well. The reason Ford did not bring any of their new diesel Eco cars is low diesel demand. Hopefully with more time and studies we can develop a more diesel friendly accepted vehicle.
