Hello,

I have a 2006 ranger 2wd sport with 3.0.

I want to lower the rear of the truck so it is level with the front (I don't want to raise the front because then it would look too tall).

The rear suspension has 4 leafs and a block on it. I assume this block is for the factory lift that I heard comes on sport models.

the blocks seem like any normal lifting block but they have little wing like protrusions on the inner side. the protrusions come out at a right angle and have holes at the end of them. the holes aren't threaded and nothing is attached to them.

I asked a friend that I thought is more experienced with trucks then I am if these blocks could be removed without changing the characteristics of the suspension. He claimed that they were angle irons and that if I removed them then the alignment would be flawed and the truck would be more bouncy in the rear.

It looks to me like they can be removed and then just add shorter U joints to hold the suspension together. the truck is a solid axle I believe so I don't understand how the alignment could be affected.

could anyone that is more familiar with rangers tell me which answer is correct? I just had an alignment done so will removing these blocks throw off the alignment?

Thank you for your help, sorry I am not very knowledgeable on trucks.

They are the big difference between a 2wd and 4wd truck in the rear suspension. They are angled to correct the pinion angle for the different suspension height. Removing them just brings everything to be like a 2wd and is perfectly fine if you want lower ride height.
