Are bronco 2 really prone to flipping easily?


I still say 99% of the problem is user error rather than flaws in vehicle design. Any taller vehicle is going to be more roll over prone than a pancake.

Ford engineering....thee engineering team...all of them....with fake burning pinto hell fresh in their tiny little minds..... plainly stated that it was not worth building within its design envelope because it was a dangerous piece of shit.....a few even had the integrity to quit over it.

Like you.... I wholeheartedly totally disagree with them.....and think that it is patently obvious by looking at it that it is a dangerous piece of shit and would drive it accordingly. But...as you can see by the title of this thread....it's just not so patently obvious.

I am very glad ruthless greedy pricks won out and they built them.

I feel bad that this decision also killed hundreds of people because they were marketed to everyone....

As mentioned....they will easily go 85 mph in stock form.. comfortably on a big freeway.. where if you are in a CJ.....you know you are fawking up at about 70..they keep you honest.

I love my bronco....but it's scary here in Detroit....because you have to perform evasive action at a high level in this rush traffic. Young bob drives it the most. And I am always on his ass to drive slow.
 
Well first off $16k is about $14k too much regardless how pretty it looks...its still 38 years old with a lot of worn out parts and hard to get parts sometimes. After having 2 Bronco 2's, and 84 and an 87, I wouldn't pay more than a couple thousand bucks for one, knowing all the work that'll come with an old vehicle like that. Low miles don't mean anything either, it means the vehicle sat for years, and means a lot of seals, gaskets, fluids, etc. are gonna need major attention, as well as belts, hoses, etc. Wouldn't trust it from a dealer either, they typically have no clue how to work on vehicles this old anymore either, nor do they actually repair anything or service anything on them before they put them on

I wouldn't mind getting another one, but I sure wouldn't be paying $16k for one....more like maybe $2-3k at most regardless of condition. They're not worth no $16k, they're 30 years old, the support for them is long gone, and wasn't really existent even when they were in production.

If I got another one I'd make darn sure it was a manual transmission though LOL. Don't care to deal with another automatic and the issues that arise with the age, and neglect that they have seen over the years :(.

I'm still driving an 87 2WD Ford Ranger though...wouldn't mind a new(er) vehicle but still enjoy driving the old Ranger daily.
 
Two years ago I was driving in a to-me-unknown area, looking for a paint supply store. I was going at maybe 40-45 MPH when I suddenly spotted the place on my right, as I was just about to pass it. So, not thinking really, I did a VERY hard swerve to the right while simultaneously slamming on the brakes so I would not fly by the place (I did check my rearview mirror to make sure nobody was behind me). Only after I stopped I realized that I had just done what you're not supposed to be able to do in a Bronco II according to popular belief. So, no, they are not prone to rolling over, if they were I would have, on that day. Mine is not lifted but it does sit on higher-than-stock-aspect tires so it is definitely an inch or so higher than stock.

I bought my 0 rust, always lived in California desert '90 Bronco II in 2019 for $2,300. It had 220K miles on it and was in good shape. I've done stuff to it including new catalytic converter (California Smog) and new cylinder heads, and other smaller things and routine maintenance and it now has around 245K miles.

Bronco II's are always popping up for sale here in Southern California on Craiglist and fb marketplace, typically for between $3K and $6K although some dreamers ask over $10K. But, there's almost always a couple for sale at any given time:

Duff coils were stiff.

I never felt my b2 in stock form was tippy, but I didn’t do much to unsettle it.
