1987 2.9 erratic idle and drivability issues

That was the plan, less things to worry about
So I was getting the partnumber off of my non egr ecm just to discover it's a cali emissions ecm which iirc needs a MAF... i wonder if my current issues are being caused by it not having a MAF to monitor airflow... I feel kinda dumb by not realizing this earlier

I think only the 92 cali trucks had MAF.

Unless it starts with "F2" thats pry not it

This is from the tech library on a 2.9 maf conversion
"EEC-IV MAF computer. The required computer originates from a 1990 California 2.9L with a MAF set-up. This is available (rebuilt/reconditioned) from Ford (about $240 + core charge) or after-market (Pepboys or Checker Auto, $100 + core). Finding it: I called Checker Auto main warehouse out here in Arizona and found they actually had the computer in stock. It’s a remanufactured unit by “Cardone”. EEC-IV Computer = Checker P/N 78-4905 (manual trans version). The original Ford EEC-IV P/N is F07F 12A650-DA (manual trans version). I think the auto trans version of the computer is a -FA"
The ecm i have is F07F 12A650-DA
