Apparent loss of oil pressure '99 3.0

Is this normal?

What rpm? 50psi cold can be normal, 25psi with hot engine at 2-3+k rpm is normal, depending on gauge accuracy, 10psi hot idle is normal.

Too bad about no oil pressure. I would recommend getting a used oil analysis if the oil is the same when this happened. You'll get a report about engine wear metals that will tell you what damage has occurred. Analysis is about $25-$30. I use Blackstone Labs.

Judging from present oil pressure you might have dodged a bullet.

I have installed a real tandem aux oil pressure gauge and had an electronics friend make a circuit board that buzzes loudly if pressure goes to zero.

What material was the syncro gear made of?

Good idea. I'll have to look into the oil test. The gear was made of metal, but all of the teeth were worn down very thin with several of them in a row broken off completely.
