anyone used this when rewiring cluster?

I found a solution that is even simpler.

Go back to your original harness, and find the thick black wire that goes from the ignition switch to the gauge portion of the cluster and put it in your new setup. It's a 9-oh resistor and steps the voltage down to the correct level.
 
thanks ads, i will look into that wire, isn't one of them a fuseable link also?
 
theres a resistor wire on some systems and reg voltage regulator on others... and ...well technically a fusible link is a resistor wire....but...
 
Thanks bob, Back to original question, Will these step down converters work ok for a converter?
 
I don't know why it wouldn't. As long as you have a clean consistent 5V it shouldn't really matter how you do it.
