My mother bought two little RC boats to play with for $30.00. They are a blast to play with and i've been messing around with it for awhile now. They are a little slow for me and they don't corner the best (I don't expect them to, they were 15 bucks each). Now here's my question, what would be a good "beginner" boat thats pretty quick and not too expensive? Let's say $100 being the most I would pay. I'd prefer electric too as I don't really want to get into nitro and gas, i'm not looking to do 100 mph at the lake.
Cool video I found too:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX0sBNcndYU&feature=PlayList&p=1D7CFB05280173B8&index=2

Well even in the U.S your not going to get much of a boat for A $ 100.00. your not even going to get the radio for that! there are a few pretty good RTR kit's out there RTR means ready to run. starting in the $300.00 range. But save your money and get a build it kit, you have all the fun of building the boat, and u get to know it in side out!

i have had nitro and gas boats never an electric boat. just make sure your not using the same channel frequency as your buddy is using. my gas modified gas zanoah engine was like $750.00 alone had about a grand in it. think it's MPI had a electric miss budwieser hydro that had every thing but a battery charger have no idea what it would cost now days for it. got out of r/c 10 yrs ago. if you go electric need a few extra battery packs they don't last that long charge them up while your using the one in the boat there are chargers that use 110 house hold volts and it will let you charge them on your car battery as well. you will grow tired of it quick unless you have a buddy that has one that goes the same speed caution get a zebco fishing reel tie a tennis ball on the line so if the boat dies of gets flipped upside down you van get it back to you that was smaller the lake or pond is the better. don't try to swim out after it your life is not worth it.

Which of the two do you think I should go with? Or do you have any suggestions? I planned on getting more battery packs so I could mess with it longer. I don't plan on spending a lot on this hobby, maybe down the road I will but not at this moment in time. I'm not too worried about swimming out after it either, i'm a good swimmer.

the second one or third one would work. tower hobbies will stand behind any thing they sell. remember the range of the radio will not let run across the lake keep close to shore. don't swim after it. you don't want to get snagged on some guys trout line.keep the boat within throwing distance with that ball and fishing reel.

my boat... SuperVee 27... needs a few mods before it hits the water, but hey... it'll be a blast. I've got some 30c 5200mah Lipos I picked up for less than 25 bucks a pack... gonna be a a blast indeed!

There are alot of them on ebay. Just remember when you start messing with the high speed boats to keep the battery switch off until your ready to launch those props will chop you up in a split second.

I used to have an ABC Baltek with a 15 turn motor and 6 cells. It went pretty quick, and was all sealed, so I would use it in rough conditions and on the river in class 3 rapids. Currently I have a tunnel hull with a k&b 7.5cc outboard hanging off the back. I ported that motor, and that boat flat out HAULS. It's got enough acceleration to jump clean out of the water from idle if I stab the throttle hard. At full-tilt it goes a radar confirmed 78mph. Pretty good for a hull I made myself! I don't run it much, it's loud and dangerous. I bring it out when someone asks though! Mostly I just use my sailboat. It's about 6 feet tall, has a 5lb lead keel, and is a hoot to play with. Nice and simple, quiet, and relaxing.

i have a dumas swamp boat,31' in long,has a tower hobbies .46 on it,a 11 x 8 prop on it,a futaba 2 ch fm radio ,its good for about 40 mph,plus i can blast through the weeds with it:icon_bounceblue:

Yeah go for the SuperVee27. It's got a great brushless setup stock. buy a nice high C 2s lipo's for good stable setup. If i remember right people get 30+mph out of the 2s lipo's. But if you want 40+ you should go with a 3s lipo. It's going to be a little unstable since its such a shallow V, but you'll get there.
